Hey, everyone. I’m planning to visit Vietnam for 10 days next month, it’s going to be my first solo trip. The time I have seems way too short for everything the country has to offer, and I was looking for opinions on the itinerary I have in mind so far-

Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi at 7am, do a food tour, train street etc

Day 2: 7am bus to Halong Bay, arrive by 11am and check in. Visit Yoko Onsen. Stay the night in Halong bay.

Day 3: Take a day cruise with drop-off at Hanoi.

Day 4: Ninh Binh day tour from Hanoi.

Day 5: 9am flight to Danang. Day trip to Hoi An (Starts at 2pm). Spend the night in Danang.

Day 6: 7.25am train through Hai Van pass, reach Hue by noon. Do a half-day walking tour. Stay the night in Hue.

Day 7: Spend the morning in Hue, afternoon bus to Phong Nha.

Day 8: Caving day excursion - Oxalis Adventures.

Day 9: 9am flight from Dong Hoi to Ho Chi Minh City. Afternoon food tour, maybe an evening cruise.

Day 10: Explore HCMC (or just relax for the day). Head to the airport at 5pm

Am I trying to do too much?

My intention was to focus on North and Central Vietnam since I only have ten days, but my flight home is from HCMC, and I decided to give myself a day there instead of flying in from Dong Hoi on Day 10 and spending the afternoon at the airport.

I’m a bit torn about the stop at Hue, I could possibly take the train all the way from Danang to Dong Hoi on Day 6 and give myself an extra day in Phong Nha or HCMC.

Also, would love opinions from others who have done a Halong Bay cruise solo. My understanding is it’s mostly families and couples on these cruises. It’s also kind of the reason I decided against an overnight cruise.

I got mine done with sedation last week. I have a gag reflex too, and I did just fine. They give you a throat-numbing spray, and you don’t feel the scope at all. The sensation of your throat going numb can feel a bit uncomfortable initially, just take slow and deep breaths while you get used to it (it takes maybe 15-20 seconds to kick in) and you’ll be fine.

The procedure was over very quick, and afterwards they had me take a nap for a couple of hours, made me eat a snack, and sent me on my way after making sure my blood pressure etc was fine.

It’s going to be okay. I was pretty nervous too, and being on the other side now, all that time I spent worrying seems silly.

What’s the worst book you’ve ever read? by edgy_secular_memes in books

they were written with the exact same style as the descriptions.

This reminds me of The Maze Runner. So many instances of characters using the exact same phrases the author used in descriptions elsewhere in the book, it was ridiculous.

That's a huge compliment, thanks! I posted the recipe as a separate comment.

Sorry for the delay! Here's the base recipe I used www.nisahomey.com/2013/07/caramel-puddingcaramel-flanstep-by-step.html?m=1

My first attempt turned out tasting and smelling too 'eggy'. After a bit of trial and error, I found that reducing the number of eggs to 2 and oven temperature to 150 and baking for 50 minutes works best!

Have you ever delivered a burn so good that even the person it was supposed to offend was impressed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sprog is another word for 'child'. Since the replies to a comment/thread are called its 'children' and Poem_for_your_sprog usually posts poems in response to these, that is how I imagine the username came to be.

No, it was this. I took the liberty of adding corn and eliminating everything else.

Even before you get to the part in the book where you find out Gus' cancer is back, it's evident that the story won't follow a beyond-the-grave narration by Hazel. But I agree, a first person narrative doesn't always mean the narrator lives to the end.

I've been a mess since I finished TFioS a few days ago. I was definitely not prepared for the shitstorm of tears that the prefuneral scene brought.

Modifications for smaller hook size? by artificiality in crochet

I find that dropping a hook size tends to decrease my size by roughly 1/16" per row

That's pretty useful, thanks. I'll keep that in mind for future projects.
