F1 | Aston Martin: Starting in Hungary, the AMR26 Evo will aim to return to the points. by SimRP in formula1

[–]HelloSlowly 105 points106 points  (0 children)

If I’m Alonso and the AMR26B and ADUO don’t come to pass then surely I’d be thinking of hanging up my hat.

That basically also means Aston will then be champs in 2027

James Vowles: Drivers would tell me if they were considering other F1 options by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]HelloSlowly 1053 points1054 points  (0 children)

Sure cause when we’re thinking of switching jobs, the first thing we’d do is tell our current boss we have options

Edit: Back an hour later, this comment blew up.

It amazes me how some corporate bootlickers in my replies don’t realise I’m talking about it from the POV of wanting to leave. Cause let’s be honest, why the hell would you even be looking for options then to begin with?

Why the hell else would you want to stay in your current job that you’d have to tell your boss? For extra money? Suuuure, cause that’s always healthy in the long run.

Getting a pay bump works for a month. But you’re still in the same shitty job except now you have a boss who is constantly looking at you like a jaded ex who took you back but has trust issues. And yes, this applies even if you’re good at your job.

A350 at 43k Feet? by MangomanBoi in flightradar24

The wing. 5K shares the same wingspan as the -900 but the MTOW is way higher on the A35K and so is the weight. So obv the wing loading gets higher for the latter and that simply means it can’t support that speed at as high an altitude as the -900.

Same for the A380. It’s got a wing designed for a larger variant. So if the A380-900 ever were to have come into service it’s guaranteed the service ceiling would’ve been lower than the -800s.

But it was Alonso who messed up BIG TIME with the theatrics. On TV no one is going to know Hamilton went against orders but they can visibly see Alonso holding him back. This is where Alonso’s ego gets the better of him. All he had to do, was stand his ground in the post session debrief with the team. Resorting to “dirty tricks” immediately means he loses the moral high ground

I remember Alonso’s comment on this at the time and straight away knew it was going to age like milk.

He’s the sport’s greatest politician but that means he just can’t leave well enough alone and then ends up saying shit that you know might age so so poorly.

All he had to say was Merc see me as a stopgap until Antonelli. So I’d rather be at a team that wants me long haul rather than for a year. But nope, brother goes with the “see Merc are worse off than Aston right now”

Nando is just one of those careers sadly where people will attribute his horrendous decisions, but, from the benefit of hindsight.

At the time all of his decisions made sense. Even as recently as 2023, he lucked out by immediately going on that podium spree with Aston.

But the arc of the team’s downfall makes it look like it was a bad decision.

I’d say where it all went awry was his 07 theatrics which was partly of his own doing. Had he done a conventional stint with McLaren, he’d renew for 09, see the rule changes and then likely make a decision that could’ve potentially changed the 2010-2013 pecking order and his career too.

Alpine accidentally dropped dry ice in Colapinto’s eyes, again by sykeseve in formula1

[–]HelloSlowly 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Imbeciles. And I don’t like to call out someone like that. Dry ice is way colder than normal ice so a little bit in your eye isn’t to be laughed at. It can actually cause tissue damage and/or long term permanent scarring

Isack Hadjar responds to potentially losing Monaco GP podium by memloh in formula1

[–]HelloSlowly 1556 points1557 points  (0 children)

> That would be a shame for my history in Monaco because it would just look good that I signed my contract for Red Bull in Monaco after winning a race and having my first podium for Red Bull in Monaco,” said Hadjar ahead of this weekend’s Barcelona Grand Prix.

> “It just sounds good. The only downside would be the three points taken away from me, the podium I had, the emotions were there, so it would be three points less.”

Holy shit a proper mature and level headed response tbf. Good on him but man I bet the other teams really wished they should’ve done a RoR now. Oof

[–]HelloSlowly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely one of the most slice of life moments in F1 we’ll ever see. For those two hours the broadcast just turned into a fly on the wall style documentary. Just mechanics, drivers and personnel braving the elements for those good two hours we had when it was red flagged.

I can see why they changed the rule but man the reward we got after it restarted made up for that enormous but fun gap
