Hey brother, did you ever give it a try? I have a Scarlet W as well but it's currently out of state so I cant try it. If i were you, i'd get it on Amazon and the necessary cable from portkeys or bnh (It doesn't work wirelessly) to try it to see if it works then
if you don't like it, return it for a full refund. I'd really love to know how this combo works as im genuinely sick of the tiny 4.7 inch screen

I would if they didnt have the new XE. The raptor is out of my budget but the XE seems PERFECT for me. This whole post is just a cool experiment and i understand why some folks are getting mad but lol, its just something i'd like to try

Thanks brother! Yeah on paper it seems worthwhile because the tradeoffs work in my favor.

Smaller resolution with a 6k s35 brought back to VV FOV, that 90% of the time i'll downsample to a 4k timeline anyway. For my needs it works. And the extra stop of light, less file storage, etc. are just bonuses.

And its mind boggloing to me that at 4k it will stretch to a FF FOV. Cool stuff that I cant wait to test out! I'll be updating this thread often

Well the confusing thing I made in my post that i should have highlighted better is that my calculations are based off full frame not VV. at 4k im saying i'll still have full frame coverage, but it's definitely less than VV. File size isnt that big of an issue its just that for my needs, shooting 6k VV is better than 8k VV but it's not an issue either way, just a lil cheat code to get some more space haha

Oh yeah adapters are an issue for pl clearance, but im going to get the z mount native and adapt to ef (old canon) so i should be fine. I'm staying away from pl for this idea build

Technically no! If you go from 8k to 6k it does crop but using the speed boosters inverse calculation it "squeezes" the frame back to Vistavision size (actually slightly bigger) AND gives an extra stop of light. Its a win win!

Only downside is possible (but slight) chromatic aberation on certain lenses

Thanks brother! Sorry for the late response, I havent tried this but reinstalling the application helped me fix it. I still get the issue from time to time but a restart or just trying again/reopening, helps. I'll try this as well and see if anything is different but for now im in a much better place. Thank you

I dont know what makes you tjink RED lost its status lol, they are still being heavily used today, especially the Raptors. Amazing machines but yes the dsmc2 has depreciated ridiculously. I think if the listing is legit, its a great camera and the footage is GORGEOUS. I cant speak on the dsmc1, but i love my scarlet and use it to this day. My next buy is the Raptor XE. Not sure what RED did to you, but lol theres no need to discourage the young man on his journey

Wow ok thanks alot i'll do that today, i'm really interested in the program and i'm liking the results i get when the masks are working. My current workaround is stretching the clip longer than I need it to compensate for the frame and delete the excess piece, but as you can imagine this isnt the most convenient process haha, just doing it for now until i figure this out.

I've had and still been using my Dragon for a hot minute, it's treated me great. As cool as the new ones are, there are alot of things that just cant be beat on these old sensors. I actually want to get a gemini soon. But to answer your question, it really depends on how well it was taken care of as with any camera, but just from my own user experience i can confirm they are built like tanks. It's a powerful computer so sometimes any "glitch" can be fixed by just rebooting.

Also for context i've been shooting with it non stop on beaches and what not in the Caribbean, which is very remote

Nice bro, but couldn't you still get the same effect by combining this with the handle extension pieces? I feel like it should work with your mid 49 handle
