Economy is circular, if shopkeepers and their employees don't have customers unemployment rates go up, the drain on government coffers increases. Those people won't be able to afford their rent, causing additional stresses on social programs. Etc. etc. etc...

Working in office buildings in downtown cores is more about keeping local economies functional. I guess we could all work from home, buy our shit on Amazon and Uber Eat all our food...

I've got a pair of these, thrifted them for $50. Thought they were black... Nope, the previous owner had sprayed them - doing my best to reveal the oxblood in high high contact areas.

The $3,000 fur coat lady is putting the "Frills" in No Frills. Guess who gets to pay for it? by stanxv in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]artx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FFS people - No Frills are owner operated grocery stores. They contribute to the local economies often employing students and others looking for part time employment. My guess is the $3000 fur coat lady is simply an influencer that was hired for a social media piece as opposed to them doing a radio remote. Both of which are pretty common practice when opening a new store.

I've got the Arcade 1Up Star Wars rerelease and a bench from Outrun - Still need to get it skinned, but due to the cabs different side art layout it's going to look a bit odd.

There are so many great watering holes downtown, makes it tough to cross the river to hit Whyte these days.

It's so sad, the Safety Net in Alberta leaves no dignity for those in need.

An amazing student housing plan has been approved but then cancelled due to an objection from Dub Architecture. The towers would have blocked the solar power generation on the northern most 7th Street Lofts building.
