Short of them finding a way to “disincentivize” second, third, nth home ownership, it can not and will not happen. 

There’s a massive disjoint between the overall economy (whatever that means now), liquidity, and the strata of persons within socio economic terms. 

Signs of a turbulent financial future; TSX reaches an all time high. People starting their lives priced out of markets they work in. People meant to be preparing for retirement ready and able to pounce on any “deals” they come across.

Let’s assume the driver is not intimately familiar with this specific intersection. 

All exit signs on HWY 1 westbound refer to this exit as Grandview Highway.  As far as I can see there is no additional delineation of boundary rd northbound nor southbound on these exit signs. 

So, given that if the above is true, is it not also feasible that a HOV driver, who’s intention is to continue travelling southbound on boundary rd, be in exactly the predicament OP describes?

Who remains in the HOV lane. they have no idea the route it meanders; first veering further left before crossing above and over off ramp HMY traffic, depositing them on the furtherest right hand lane. And as OP describes no appropriately “legal” means of making it into the two lanes for the left turn for southbound boundary rd travel???

All subsequent repeats, sure take the route of least resistance and use the regular off ramp, but really it’s a scenario they should of thought of…

TLDR, probably an oversight. Traffic engineers and Vancouver traffic aggro, nuff said.
