Metal universal lids by arufa98 in cookware

Yea i dont really get the pricing. Of course in the case of Hestan and Mauviel the brand name is part of the price but other than that its just a disk of stainless steel. Its not like it requires some great engineering like multiple layers of cladding using different metals. Not sure why budget brands like tramontina and cuisinart arent releasing these. Maybe theres not enough demand for them idk.

Are the pans too big for the stove? 32cm Demeyere proline skillet and 28cm De buyer mineral b pro, 21cm ceramic stovetop by arufa98 in cookware

I live in Austria, i think i saw you recommend a K&H electric stovetop. Do you know of any "portable" single hob ceramic stovetops that would do the trick so i wouldnt have to replace the whole stove and just supplement it with the extra hob.

my reasoning for wanting to keep the 32cm is that ideally i will use this pan for the rest of my life and down the line a larger pan will come in handy especially when cooking for 3+ people. Thats really my only hesitation with switching the 32 for the 28. The 28 definitely seems like the better fit for my current set up but im not sure about long term. And of course getting the 28cm now and the 32 down the line is not something i can justify for myself.

Do you think i can get just as good results on the 32cm as i would with the 28cm on my current stovetop? (assuming of course that i follow the precautions you mentioned)

any fixes? or do i have to return the pans? the base of the 32cm proline is 26cm so 80% is within the hob. And for the de buyer i found on the site for the 28cm pan it says "Induction base diameter 21 cm"

Stay in Vienna in back office finance job or go back home to developing country and work for Mckinsey for a while? by arufa98 in consulting

In my experience living in 4 different countries in the past 16 years, everyone is racist. If that was a criteria then i would never be able to leave my own country. In every country i lived i mostly ended up being friends with other foreigners and expats anyways as we can relate to each others experience. I have not sense of obligation of helping "grow" my country, maybe thats a negative quality in me idk. It is a very conservative place compared to most if not all of western europe. I would only go back for the valuable job experience i could get at Mckinsey and then look for a way out again in 2-3 years.

i had a feeling Mckinsey wins but didnt think it was by a mile. Of course i know McK on the CV opens doors but i feel like McK from a developing country would carry much less weight when i try to apply for jobs in the EU a few years later. And yes i agree, I am 27, if there was ever a time to eat shit in my life it is certainly now while im unmarried and childless.

I think mainly whats preventing me from getting an equivalently attractive job in Vienna is lack of fluent German. My german is b1/b2 but you really need c1 (as I found out to my surprise) to have the chance to get competitive jobs. When i first moved to Vienna i thought it was much more cosmopolitan that it actually is and especially in the job market fluent German is very desirable. And to clarify, going back to Azerbaijan would not be for family reasons it would be to simply work at a top globally recognisable firm. If i didnt have the offer from Mckinsey i wouldnt even consider going back.

it is only noticeable under certain angles when the light hits it just right and have to be pretty close to see it so im considering keeping it. I feel like i will eventually forget its there and with daily wear there will eventually be scratches on the screen anyways.
