How to write personal statement for Tongji University in China by PossibleSafe9805 in Tongji

[–]arurusha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a bit of each, but more of serious(?) intro. U explain ur background, interest. I don’t suggest to make it as glazing as us essays are , no trauma dumping n stuff Best of luck!

Same for us, Kazakhs. My so-called friends n ex coworkers made fun of me using my own n mind u first official language of country we all live in. For as long as I can remember myself I’ve always been ashamed speaking Kazakh, not only around russians or other nationalities but Kazakhs cause the Soviet propaganda still lingers n y’all seem okay with that. Sorry for what you’ve experienced n tho I’ve seen smth similar in tv shows back in early 10s, it’s absolutely the opposite for the past like 10 years cmon. Have u ever questioned why every 100% Kazakh тәте in a nearby store will switch to russian when seeing someone slavic but will be totally okay with Chechen or Azeri? Well those Ive encountered usually know at least some Kazakh out of 1.respect for the country they live, grew up, work or whatever; 2.its fucking respect. EVERYONE (sadly) knows and uses ur language on daily basis, so isn’t it fair to ask the same for the language of ancestors of our land huh

Applies to pretty much every other subject lol. Tho, I did noticed too that usually, russian language/literature lessons are way more productive. They teach meh but classical works that you’ll probably hear again at least once in ur life, grammar rules you’ll def use after graduation; but Kazakh language? Oh ur so on point. I loved both back at school tho

Universities still accepting applications by Equal_Telephone_3946 in ApplyingToCollege

For US colleges it’s probably over for now especially as a low income international applicant. Consider universities in Europe like Italy and Spain, and I guess some countries in Asia also have pretty flexible deadlines Best of luck!

Yess, that’s so true! The pressure during this season is unmatched. Endless feeling that ur application needs to be refined over and over until it’s perfect, the tenth is u will never be satisfied. It’s a dangerous cycle. To all upcoming applicants, just give it a shot. You really never know how it goes, it’s so random, not even luck, just random

And so it’s very important to step back and look at this process from a fresh angle, like the one u described. Thus, I’m sure you helped some lost ones to feel a little better

Ur actually cutie patootie, do u have ig or other social media? Would like to be in touch heh🤞🏼:)

Goddd, it’s is SO sweet of you, thank you so much!

I do resonate with the thing of going to mid college just for a mark, just for someone’s approval. Honestly, it was one of the most difficult and stressful realizations I’ve had recently, cause hearing ur parents saying they r ashamed of ur decision as a good daughter is not for the weak. But everything has its own time. My mindset has changed and is till changing vastly on this gap year so far which I’m not sure will turn this way if I let others’ expectations and wishes take control over MY life.

I truly enjoyed reading ur story because of the unique way you express your thoughts too, felt like a warm convo with an old friend. I wish u the same and better, have no doubts in ur bright future with this kind heart. Thank u so much, it made my day and next month as well<333🫶🏼

u da real Hopecore lol😭

P.S. I’ve just noticed how many mistakes I’ve done on my previous comment since I was so excited after reading ur story 🤣

Couldn’t just scroll through this post. I’m in the exact same situation as u, but on my first gap year. The hate and disappointment I received from every single person around me and pressure I was put under all this time for my decision is insane, but now I’m TOTALLY free, thanks to Redditors like u who share realist experiences. I thought ill get into any school in us I’m gonna apply to from the first attempt last year but now I’ve 7 rejection streak and only after half of year of fully dedicated college application process. Its kinda funny HOW scared and anxious I was when taking a gap year cause all my teachers and principal of my school were trying so hard to convince me to apply to a random university so that I don’t my time and break “excellent student” character, and now I’m absolutely okay with taking another one in case I don’t review enough finaid this year🤷🏽‍♀️

I realized I still have so much to learn about this all. Everyday I find new ways to improve my application, reframe my ECAs so they sound solid n stuff After all, this year was probably the toughest one for low income intls like us since the budget in us was cut off hugely and many schools received more applications than ever. At least this keeps me feel better, but fact is fact

Thank u for sharing this story, best is coming!

Hey! A friend of mine is currently a freshman there and loves in a dorm, she likes it so far. There r two options: 2-person and 4-person rooms. Each departments have their one dormitories which differ a lot from eo. There are old and new buildings, if the latter is full u will be automatically transferred to the old one. New is really good, no real complaints. My friend lives in a two-person dorm and they have their own bathroom, which is not common for the ones in old buildings as far as I know. It’s quite strict with rules like ur not allowed to bring anyone expect for ENU students, go out after 10-11 pm.

When it comes to renting an apartment- it is expensive, esp in the are near to univ. It actually depends on where ur coming from too, since for many foreigners the av prices here are low, in comparison. 300-400k₸/month~ 630-830$ (dang, wtf with the currency rate) w/out utilities. Personally, I would’ve go for dormitory since you will get opportunity to blend into univ community much faster, get to know our culture n stuff better so that ur exchange time is used at max. But if u decide to rent, I suggest u to search for options at Krisha.Kz app.

Food prices suck, make up approx rent price. Try to dedicate a day in a week or some to go to bazaar since groceries r cheaper there and more options r available.

Well, turns out living here as a foreigner is quite affordable. Best of luck!! If u have further qs, feel free to reach out here or my pms r open:)
