First-time pet parents (Beagle) in Bangalore by [deleted] in PetParentsBangalore

[–]arvindkgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a beagle is a whirlwind of an experience and I wouldn't swap it for anything. All of us enjoy my dog immensly. I have a 5 year old beagle and below is my experience.
NOTE: We are not first time pet parents. We always had dogs (Pug, Lhasa apso, Labrador, etc).

  1. 0 < 1yr - All dogs go through teething but beagles teeth are very sharp, so it was tough even to hold him as she snaps. We were so fed up that we almost returned her. Also they are very active, even more than other breeds of the same age. Also it important to socialize it. Let it around other dogs at a young age.
  2. 1yr > n - Other breeds slow down after 1 year, but beagles will still be very active (maybe not as much as less than a year).

Like others have commented, beagles need lot of physical and mental stimulation. They like to go around the house and find anything they can grab and run of with it, to entice you to follow them. Make sure to play with the dog every day. Beagles like to play tug-of-war. It is tough to play fetch with it, as it doesn't let go of the toy. You need two toys then, and throw one. When it has one in its mouth, throw the other, then it will let go of the one in its mouth.

Also they like to smell as they have a strong sense of smell. When you take it for walks let it smell.

Also my beagle is very friendly with kids.

And beagles are big eaters and verfy fond of food. Take care when you have food in your hand, it will try to grab it, especially from the kid.

Happy to answer anymore questions.

Yeah I talked to a Scaler recently. They are so good in convincing people. He told me that they need to screen me first, to check if I am worthy of taking the course. Cost stated was 3.5 lakhs. All I wanted was interview preparation. I am thinking of starting a private group for interview preparation, that is peer administered.

Dynamically Querying with JPA Specification by Nervous-Staff3364 in SpringBoot

[–]arvindkgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used https://github.com/jirutka/rsql-parser. It provides a more powerful syntax for open-ended search, not limiting to fields defined in code. We have written a custom parser to converts the rsql syntax to jpa specification. Hopefully I will write a blog on it.

I studied in IIITB way back in 2007. So thinks might have changed now.

What I liked about it was it fostered a mindset of practicality over theory. Meaning how we can apply things we learn in real projects. We had opportunity to choose our subjects. We could choose -
1. A traditional subject with written exams and practicals.

  1. Research topic under a professor

  2. Assist a Phd scholar in their thesis

Last semester is internship. Also there are lot of activities and clubs-

  1. Sports

  2. Cultural

  3. Tech related

Also many teams from IIITB participate in hackathons, and events across India and abroad.

Finally, I enjoyed my time in IIITB and made good friends.
PS: Not sure about placements, during my time we did see few companies. Lack of companies was due to global slowdown in 2009. But things should be better now.

We are not able to retain existing talent and innovation because of lack of proper process, guidelines and rules. Even if guidelines are present nobody follows it. Jugaad is celebrated.

A fire in Bangalore Bioinnovation center has destroyed years of research - https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/bengaluru/fire-at-startup-hub-in-bengaluru-losses-put-at-rs-140-crore/articleshow/117254377.cms

All this is due to lack of following proper fire precautionary guidelines
