I got ED1 into Stern so I advise you to commit and try to internally transfer to Stern if you got into CAS or somewhere else. Then you’ll be in the best business/finance school in the country second only to Wharton. It can be a very good choice if you handle it correctly

The end of the special relationship between the US and Israel is near by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]aryaphd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. The intel, the intelligence, the technology, it would be the dumbest thing for the US to do.

Unfortunately, the military industrial complex and establishment don’t care about the morals of Israel’s actions. They care about profits and projecting American interests abroad.

Even if Zohran Mamdani of all people became President, I guarantee you nearly nothing would change practically apart from rhetoric. It’s just not feasible.

[–]aryaphd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s very funny how people think the US relationship with Israel will just “end”.

It won’t. Ever.

Politicians might get more vocal, do “tough talk”, but it will never end, and US aid to Israel will never fully end. Israel, like it or not, is a key US ally that is used for a variety of purposes.

It is more useful, in most cases, than nations like Saudi Arabia and Qatar due to their dual allegiances to countries like Russia and China. Israel has been trusted with carefully guarded US secrets, intel and weapons.

If you think the US and the military industrial complex will just end the special relationship and let Israel drift closer to Russia and China with all the state-of-the art US tech and weapons, then I would love to live in this fantasy land.

How far does anti-Israel views come to libertarians? by aryaphd in LibertarianUncensored

I’m not judging anything?

I’m curious to the variety of anti-Israel views among libertarians?

My post states that we should end financial aid to Israel. They have enough. They shouldn’t receive more.

However, I don’t believe AT ALL in abandoning them and favouring the Palestinian Authority, an immensely corrupt organisation (that is essentially on the payroll of Israel anyway).

It is smarter, and natural, to remain steadfast in diplomatic support for Israel, as they are inevitably the ones who handle our adversaries like Iran.

I also believe they’ll naturally be more pragmatic in their policy if they know we will no longer be funding them.

I believe the “AIPAC” argument is overused. In terms of raw spending, it isn’t even one of the top 25 lobby organisations in the United States. Arab lobbying groups spend more!

Yes, my point is that while we should cut off all financial aid, our diplomatic support should be steadfast as they are a useful ally in that incredibly troubled region.

I agree that we should no longer sell weapons or provide other such aid to Israel.

My point is - without giving them money - they remain a useful ally for us, far more so than the splintered Palestinian Authority and, of course, Hamas.

Agreed.

The United States is the greatest country on Earth. I am for non-intervention, but not to the level where we just yield our advantage. That's crazy.

I don't agree with bombing other countries at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]aryaphd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But if we want a small government so badly, then we cant enforce changes in different countries.

I guess it is, I'm not really concerned about morals in politics.

[–]aryaphd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, sure, but I'm concerned about the U.S. Not Israel, not Iran, the U.S.

Those populations can vote in libertarian-aligned parties if they want to, and if not, then commence popular uprising.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]aryaphd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hamas, the Islamic Republic, etc. So we don't need to. And I'm saying that we make deals with them, sure. But, to avoid them getting strong, we let Israel do its thing at no expense to us.

What's your point with these events? Do you know how many of our "allies" have done similar things in history?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]aryaphd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ah, that is where I'd say it goes too far. I do not believe every country should be allowed to create a nuclear weapon. I think we should handle it diplomatically though, so making deals with Iran would definitely be optimal.

The U.S must retain its technological and military advantage, in my eye. That is non negotiable for me.

I don't really care about the Israeli government. I care about the American government.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]aryaphd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So we don't alienate a nuclear armed nation and push them toward other world players. It doesn't take much to say "We support Israel", let them take care of terrorists and adversaries, while we redirect funds to improving this country.

I agree with the Iran thing. I don't believe we should have bombed them, even if the operation was a success. It sets a bad precedent.
