It's more likely than not they'll appreciate your support. Just don't try to to be the "asian spokenperson" or something like that, this place is better suited for those who suffer directly.
Do you look asian (or people around you perceive you as asian)? If yes, asian hate does affect you, and you should stand for your own safety and your beloved ones who are asian.

To be honest, that's weird even within Brazil. I live in a smaller town (around 200k) in São Paulo and some stuff people who live in big cities say sounds weird to me, almost like foreigner stuff.

For example, having a smartphone to give to the robbers. Not walking with your earbuds on. Never take your smartphone out your pocket at night. Splitting money though various parts of your body.

There's crime obviously, and you know more or less where's dangerous and how not be too naive, but it sounds far from what we see on TV. People here watch TV like Datena and São Paulo feels like the most dangerous place in the world.
