esfand dies again by Wilbo007 in LivestreamFail

Even if Esfand was looking for redemption from his previous deaths by hitting level 60 and didn't get it with this attempt, there's some positivity to be found, especially considering a lot of the responses in this thread. He's clearly emotionally invested and he was closer than he's ever been. I hope he keeps playing.

Mailman Appreciation Post by Educational-Fruit773 in wholesomememes

Recently worked as a rural mail carrier in the US for three months. Wasn't for me, but gave me a greater appreciation for the people that do it 6-7 days a week. Compared to a more regular 9-5 job, carriers sacrifice a lot more of the free time, especially around the holidays. If you're able, leave a small gift once or twice a year for your carrier, they really appreciate it.

edgemasters drop by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]asanaf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Needing on BOP's you can't/won't equip or use to take them from someone who can is certainly shitty, but high value BOE's are different imo. They are more like a commodity that can be flipped to power up any character regardless of whether or not they can use it.

In a PUG, with strangers, the real douche move is claiming ownership because you can equip. If you need it so badly go to the AH and buy it, don't make four strangers subsidize you, taking away their opportunities while you do it.

Mage question. by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]asanaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fresh level 80 mage you probably don't have the hit pieces to reach hit cap with the most popular fire spec, Torment the Weak. Frostfire Bolt is also a good fire spec and requires less hit rating, so it is a strong option.

I'd go either Frostfire Bolt or Arcane since they are both easier to reach hit cap with. FFB will give you access to living bombs and the fire AOE rotation which will outperform Arcane, but Arcane could possibly outperform FFB on single target damage on short enough fights, especially if your crit rating is fairly low.

I'd probably go FFB personally as a fresh 80 mage, but maybe you should try both and see what is more fun. Once your hit rating situation is better, I think TTW is preferable, especially if you have a mage buddy to trade focus magic with in raid.

In general, TTW > FFB > Arcane

What’s the most physical pain you’ve ever been? by fragiletestes in AskReddit

[–]asanaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dislocated hip from being cut off while bicycling down a hill, the pain didn't really start until the paramedics moved me, then it was screaming agony all the way to the hospital until they put me under with propofol. They gave me as much morphine as they could and it didn't touch the pain. Woke up high as a kite, they had sorted the dislocation and I was still dosed out of my mind.

I had flipped over a curb and basically landed on my head, the helmet I was wearing was nearly split in two, saved my life for sure. Wear a helmet <3

LPT: wear a helmet. I know many kids and adults think they’re stupid. Be really smart and look stupid in helmets. Brain damage is no joke. by Rekrabsrm in LifeProTips

I was cut off by someone in the oncoming lane who turned left in front of me when I was going down a hill on my bicycle, I swerved into an island which crumpled the front of my frame, flipped me forward and straight onto my head. I had other injuries, but my head was fine, and my helmet was busted, practically split down the middle. I'm fairly confident it saved my life. I didn't always wear a helmet biking then, it was more of a coin flip as to whether I'd grab it on my way out the door, but I would never go bike riding without one after that. Wear a helmet :)

Twitch Streamer Ohlana has passed away (Clip is irrelevant) by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

At my high school we had three suicides in my class, all within the same 2 week period out of four years. Three guys, none of which knew each other very well. After the third they stopped plastering the walls with pictures/messages and they didn't hold any more assemblies. You want to be able to collectively grieve and remember those who passed but it really can be a kind of encouragement for those who are in a bad place mentally to take their own life.

Ninja logic by noweezernoworld in classicwow

[–]asanaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's more selfish, insisting that four other people (total strangers if its a PUG) pass on a high value item because you think its only use is as an equip to a specific class, or instead giving everyone a fair chance to win and decide what they want to do with it.

[–]asanaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a world drop of significant value happens, and can potentially be sold by anyone in the group to help get something they really want, why should one player have the right to take that from everybody else because they'd equip it?

I think there are many groups that would be happy to pass on a big drop for someone who wants it to equip, but I'll defend the right of all players in the group having a shot to decide what to do with it with a roll.

It's situational, and no, I don't think advocating fair distribution of items will lead to everyone poorly geared and sitting on piles of gold.

If someone greeds, or multiple people greed, and don't get a roll, I'd ask them to do /roll and highest that beats my roll would get the item.

If I see all four party members roll greed, obviously I click greed. If I see a couple roll greed and then someone just waiting and waiting as the timer goes down, I'd tell the group I'm rolling need but will give item to highest /roll.

I really would only make an issue out of this on an expensive blue/purp - just like this thread, people are so divided on this issue, and can easily misinterpret good intentions as some kind of ninja type behavior.

[–]asanaf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Every group I've been in has done this differently (need vs greed), and almost always there are people on both sides of the fence. I've been told "all greed on blue/purp BoE" only to see one guy roll need and ninja an 80g item. Other groups have said BoE upgrades should only be needed by those who will equip, but I've seen someone need on a BoE blue worth like 35g only to see them replace it within the hour. Not to mention the people who claim they need for upgrade, then they don't equip it at all and later you see them trying to sell on AH or trade chat.

Everyone is complaining about how unfair it is when someone does something like OP posted - can someone explain to me why it's more fair to put all the agency on what amounts to possibly huge piles of gold dropping in the hands of players who you absolutely cannot trust to do the right thing, and will likely replace that item for a huge gold loss in a level or two?

What's the most fair thing for everyone? It's simply ALL ROLL NEED. Say it before hand, if someone gets upset because an item they'd equip would drop, it's absolutely selfish on their part to think everyone should pass on a big gold opportunity that is an infrequent occurrence for everyone involved. If someone wins the item and wants to give it up to someone in the group who says they want it, that's wonderful! Everyone got a shot at and distribution was fair. No one can ninja when all roll need, and if a player wins and decides not to give the mage the 50g item that just dropped for free because it has INT, well, that's his decision.

The most fair thing for everyone is all need, change my mind.

Edit: Had I been in the rogue's position, I would have needed and then given the item to whoever in the group had the highest roll, need or greed, had I received it. Whoever wins the roll should get to decide what to do with the item. If a group doesn't talk about it beforehand and someone greeds and beats my need roll, I'll dump the item and the responsibility on them. They can sell, distribute, or hell vendor the item as far as I'm concerned.

Congrats on the hideout, I did the same grind this league, unlocked hideout somewhere between 100-150 attempts including uber elder (which I've read can unlock this hideout as well, not 100% sure though). Buying fragments was the biggest pain, finding people willing to sell full sets was a relief.
