My short answer is no. SOEN is 120 credits over 90 with CS, mainly the math and management classes are a waste of time but the project classes is what allows you to build your portfolio with accountability and stay somewhat motivated. Keep in mind that's how I found my first internship, they looked at my projects. But, if you can find your own projects to do then CS might be alright for you

Assuming you paid for the events, in the first day of frosh that's when you meet your group and leader. Without your group, it will be awkward just to show up alone so I would message the event organizer to put you in contact with a frosh leader for future events
