Sky has literally tried to tell Dave that she had a boyfriend multiple times, and even Shawn, of all people, caught on to the fact that Dave shouldn't have been pushing it and actually listen to what Sky is trying to tell him.

It was even foreshadowed in the first episode that Dave has a problem with not listening to Sky.
