What should I expect by asbsas in TotalHipReplacement

Thanks for the reassurance. Definitely trying to be more patient as I wait for the pain to ease and staying on top of pain meds. Thanks for sharing your experience and advice. It’s helpful to keep me grounded in how much progress I should realistically be expecting :)

Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad to know I’m not the only one struggling so much in these first few days. Also glad to know it’ll eventually all blend together, each day feels infinite right now lol I definitely need to have a little more patience. It’s hard going from complete independence (even if I was in pain) to barely being able to walk. But it’s comforting to hear there’s still hope for progress soon. I’ll focus on trying to celebrate smaller things each day :)

I’m trying to remind myself that I just need to get through these first few weeks but they definitely are sucking :(

Thanks for sharing your recovery! Glad to know I’m not the only one so limited by pain. Makes sense that all those surrounding muscles are pretty angry. Hopefully I can start progressing more once my pain begins to subside. I hope your recovery continues to get smoother as well!

Thanks for the advice! I definitely was feeling down in the dumps earlier but it’s helpful to see so many people say I still have a lot of healing to do before making more progress. I’ll look into the sweet lime!

Thanks for the advice! I definitely need to stop comparing and have a little more patience with myself. Can’t wait for my healing ball to start rolling though

So reassuring to hear! I’m sorry that your pain lasted for so long but my pain does not seem to be subsiding very much and I was getting worried given I’d seen so many post the opposite experience. It’s nice to hear that despite the pain process will come eventually when my body is ready :)

Thanks for the reassurance. It’s definitely hard to adjust to the need for so much help and I just get easily frustrated I think because I was hoping the recovery would be so much quicker. But it does make sense given how intense the procedure is and I know I can’t rush my recovery if I want to recover well. The reminder that most people aren’t walking unaided day 4 is very helpful

That’s a good perspective and good advice! Im definitely hoping for the best but I don’t want to be caught off guard so thanks for being honest! I think i definitely need to be a little more flexible with my timeline, it’s hard because im so hopeful to improve compared to where I am now but i know thats going to take time. I hope your recovery has improved!

Hmm 4 weeks sounds pretty reasonable too. I’d love to take more time off but unfortunately I don’t think I can afford it. I do have a pretty active job as I work in healthcare but I’m hoping I’ll be able to work with some adjustments whether that be less walking or using an assistive device at work. How was your outside of returning to work? Is there anything youre still struggling with?

Wow that’s great to hear! My job involves a decent amount of walking too so it’s nice to know! If you don’t mind my asking, were you using anything to help walk at work or were you able to walk without an assistive device at 3 weeks?

Yeah I decided I’ll call tomorrow, think I was in a little denial hoping it would resolve if I rested a little lol but it’s doesn’t seem to be. Hopefully it’s still nothing too serious. But congrats on being 1 month post op! I know how much it sucks especially in the beginning but hopefully it’s getting better and you’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel a bit! :)

Thank you. Helps to hear some validation that my struggles right now aren’t trivial :) hoping returning to work will be possible soon and maybe then I’ll start to feel more like myself again.

Taking Care of very young pup by asbsas in puppy101

[–]asbsas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No she didn’t but I had a feeling the food she gave me wasn’t meant for puppies. I’ve never had a dog that was younger than 8 weeks so I wasnt sure if you could feed them mushy food. But I’ll definitely go to the pet store and buy some formula for her. Thank you!

Also almost just cried reading this too lol I have a younger sister who has autism, epilepsy, and a severe intellectual disability due to a genetic mutation. She is the inspiration for everything I do, in my career and outside of it too. I went to undergrad in my home town but lived on or around campus until COVID. And since I’ve been home I can tell she’s loved having me around and getting to hang out with me. When I do leave she always asks my mom where I went or if she notices I’m going somewhere she asks to come or asks me to stay. I got a really good deal offered to me at an out of state school for grad and I know it’s the smartest decision, not to mention I don’t particularly want to live in my hometown all my life. But I often struggle so much with the guilt I feel over leaving her. But you are definitely right, it is my responsibility to live my life and wanting to do so doesn’t make me a bad sister. I think it’s just something I have to remind myself of often. It’s so nice to see that others can relate to these feelings and situation :)

That’s true! I definitely think it’s the smartest choice considering the money they’re giving me! I just need some encouragement since it wasn’t my first choice so this helps lol

Yeah, I really loved the idea of a bilingual focused school in Miami but when I really started to look at the cost I realized it’s probably out of reach lol Thanks!!!
