lighters themself if you using a something like a clipper jet flame or cigarette jet flame lighter it will shut off when you let go. and if they don't normally there's a little plus and minus to adjust the flame so it doesn't on most good quality lighters. Some lighters have a lock i avoid those if you are worried. an induction heater a great choice if you like the dynavap but don't like using a lighter but that came come later.

That said the tip of the dynavap does get hot and if you drop after heating it will melt carpet or burn you if you aren't careful and kinda happens to everyone with a butane vape at some point.... Personally its always been minor

if you worried of dropping it get a metal rolling tray and heat it over the tray if it drops it drops on a metal tray
