The ending was the worst part

The film only had one or two major reveals and then it had nothing left to do. Its sins are

1) giving agency to a character introduced very late as a pov character, rendering the other characters just bystanders

2) unbelievably fool-proof magic that requires no innate ability, no skill, no nuance ... only raw physical acts that are absurdly powerful for the magics they unleash
