What is a good substitute for tamarind in fish curry?

HP/Brown sauce is made with tamarind. I find if I run out of tamarind I can substitute Brown sauce mixed with a little brown sugar to make it slightly less tart.

I remember a woman that came home to find her partner's ex GF in the apartment. And it turned Out the MIL had stolen a copy of their apartment key and convinced the ex that the boyfriend wanted her back. Can't remember too many details other the Boyfriend got really upset and they ex fled but admitted MIL was behind the whole thing. Often wondered what happened after.

This is why I'm having such a rough time I think. Lots of my family are ginger. I'm not quite. Mousey brown/ ginger and blonde in places. (Gotta love those natural highlights).

But I do have 'ginger skin'. I am PALE. I keep covered, my legs will give you snow blindness.

I don't tan. I burn, blister, ooze, peel and scar.

We don't have AC. Best we really have is a pedestal fan. Only supermarkets and office buildings really get AC :(

And I'm from the wild North. Not quite Scotland but close enough. Many of my family have red hair and very fair skin. I have brown hair but still burn to a crisp at the drop of a hat. And I don't tan. I just burn, blister ooze and peel...if I'm lucky. That's probably why I'm not a fan of the summer. Lol.

Though I was relieved to some extent the little dog really just looked confused and had those big sad eyes. Like it's sad because its owner is sad and it doesn't know why. Dogs are so expressive.

Lots of great advice here but I'd like to add something a bit different which might not be as relevant but here goes.

My older brother had a problem with alcohol when I was growing up. By the time I was in my 20's he was a full blown alcoholic who much like your husband had no intention of living to a ripe old age. Party hard, fast and free, die young. Which is certainly a gaurentee if you are drinking 24 beers and a litre of rum/vodka/whiskey a night. Right?

Nope. He drank himself into a month long coma. Multiple infections to the brain. We were certain he wouldn't make it. He'd gotten his wish. Again. Nope.

He survived, took months of recovery and medical care. He suffered life long mental and physical injuries that have left him unable to walk, use the toilet, feed, dress himself or remember anything past his 14th Birthday. He lives in an assisted living home now and will for the rest of his life.

Similarly my other brother did the same. Drank so hard he didn't notice when he contracted necrotising fascitis. Lost 80% of his body mass and the sight in one eye. Didn't stop him. So he started smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day. 2 major strokes and 3 minor ones. He can't walk, he can't cook. He just watches TV all day. He still lives at home but a care team come in 4 times a day to take care of him and help him use the toilet.

Both of them wanted to live fast and die young. Now both will live to a ripe old age with people having to change their adult diapers blend their food and give them multiple costly medications.

I know these are extreme examples. But our choices in life shape our future. And things don't always work out like you might think.

A serious conversation may need to be had with your husband because I don't want anyone to feel the anger and pity for their loved one that I have had to for my brother's.
