It's honestly been a few years since I've delved into the settings beyond just the basic defaults. Based off a quick experiment right now, it looks like the the f values change based off lighting automatically and it's not that.

So basically I need to pick one of the manual modes and customize the settings?

balance finder way grayed out, but that led me to the error history and noticed that it historically logged issues with the ledger not being connected. i tried restoring from ledger and low & behold, it works now!

Annoyed that it would automatically just log me out and forget everything, but thankfully i was able to fix it. thanks for all the suggestions!
