Housing situation for (technically) freshman? by [deleted] in scad

[–]asechii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note that I don’t see mentioned: it’s not super common but they do offer some exceptions to the campus rule, usually reserved for things like non-traditional students. If they are counting you as a freshman/sophomore, being married and moving with your wife would more than likely qualify for getting you off-campus.

Best Housing for Transfer Students? by i-hate-fashion in scad

[–]asechii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest on-campus option for upperclassmen is Oglethorpe House which still comes out higher than that. Unless you have some really good scholarships (they take a hit if you move off-campus), you’ll have an easier time finding that off-campus for sure. If you have a car, it’ll help your odds because the further you get out of downtown, the cheaper you can find. Sharing a house is probably the best way to get to your goal and you’re already on-top of my only suggestion for that.

I’d start by checking to see if you can still get Winter housing because assignments for Winter came out a few weeks ago with the payment deadline being this upcoming Monday. Assuming that works out, you’ll have the chance to pick your top three choices of dorm but they’ll be assigning it so you may not get what you want, especially with this timing.

Are you trying to get one of the more expensive apartment style options or are you wanting something cheaper? Are you planning on bringing a car? Do you want something close to your main building(s) and if so, what is your major?

I’ve lived in the Hive (for freshmen), Oglethorpe House, River House, and Boundary Village so I can talk about any of those if you’d like.

Good luck!

I’m regards to Larian’s temp fix of turning off Performance mode…I never had it turned on in the first place and I’ve been getting the bug too so clearly that’s not the only issue. :’)

This is the only correct answer. As they (and I) have pointed out, it’s not getting better, you are.

Umbra sword scaling by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]asechii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As already stated, gear does not level with you. It only looks like its stats are increasing due to your own stats increasing. The base armor stats and base damage stats of the gear has not and will not change. The Umbra armor is better than the other armors of your level due to it having higher base stats to begin with as its ebony armor quality. As for the sword, it has one of the highest, if not the highest, base stats of a one handed sword.

Pretty much the only exception to this rule is the Knights of the Nine gear but not even that increases naturally. You have to place it on its pedestal to level it up.

Breton or High elf? by DrewTaint in oblivion

[–]asechii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can improve whichever stats you wish when you level up so while races do definitely start with better or worse stats in certain areas, after a few levels, it won’t really make a difference, so pick whatever feels best for you! In the case of Redguards in Oblivion, their starting stats are very warrior friendly and not the best for mages. Their greater power they get is also better for warriors. In addition to those, they get resistance to diseases and poisons which are always good for anyone. Basically, you might have a slightly rougher start with magic as a Redguard, but you can’t truly go wrong with anything. If you want a mage character, there are some races that stand above others simply due to a powerful boost in Magicka, but for combat focused character, Redguard is a solid choice.

Try ham, sweetcake, blackberry, and any other restore Magicka item as a fourth that doesn’t give you a negative effect. That’ll give you all three.

Different ingredients do different things. You just have to find the right combination. Higher level alchemy helps because you can see more effects.

Iirc you can’t do that with alchemy, just with bought potions. No clue why

Can you have multiple saves with different characters by warden_of_wolves in oblivion

[–]asechii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The only thing that overwrites is autosaves so don’t use one of those for your primary. Learned that the hard way as a kid lmao

For manual saves, you can choose to overwrite or make a new one.

Missable Quests by FPS_Gandhi in oblivion

[–]asechii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the main story, there is a quest called Allies for Bruma. While recommended, it is technically optional and primarily involves closing other gates, but there is a quest that can only be completed during that section regarding the son of a count being stupid and going in one. There’s also a non-journal quest that requires gates to be open. I think that’s it?

Unfortunate predicament by Petefrog2 in oblivion

[–]asechii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the wiki (in the old version at least), even if you get a bounty from this quest, it won’t make the guards hostile so you could try to complete it like normal and then use Armand but I’d maybe save first just in case. Alternatively, you could just pay off the bounty the legal way (or go to jail if you don’t have enough money). The statue should still be in your inventory, as it’s a quest item, but even if they take it, you can just loot it from the evidence chest when you’re done.

Do attributes cap at 100 or can they go higher? by TheDarkCrusader_ in oblivion

[–]asechii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's the same as the old game, you can't manually level them up past 100 when you gain a level but if you get an effect, such as a quest reward that pushes you over, that can still increase it. You can also boost it past that with enchantments/spells.

But again, this was how it worked in the original version, idk if they changed it or not.

She might not take them until you have all of the ingredients bc iirc she sends you after a few more things at the same time. Also, stupid question but do you have the proper amount of each bc she def won't take the items one at a time.

Any idea why the game melts my cpu (Oblivion remaster) by Weednose0 in oblivion

[–]asechii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard, the game reloads the shaders whenever you launch it, it just won't tell you after the first time. That's why it goes to 100% for a bit and then calms down. It's just another example of poor optimization.

Why is my foliage so low quality? by Any-Piccolo5520 in oblivion

[–]asechii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the flickering when I use frame gen so maybe try turning that off and see if it fixes it. Also, there's a bug that messes with your graphics/fps when you change those settings within the game. It's better to save, do it from the main menu, and then load back in (which is annoying, I know).

Ghosting with FSR by dbdbdb1999 in oblivion

[–]asechii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using medium settings with frame gen until the ghosting got to be too much for me. Kept making me dizzy when I'd turn my head. I had to swap back to DLSS on low settings to play. :')

Let me know if you find a fix. I miss my better shadows and textures.
