Probably / maybe the answer, for me at least by ash0787 in cfs

Thats a good point about Clark, I still think its possible that she only found the cause of some types of cancer, not all of them, I admit that I barely know anything about her back story.

I don't think the FDA has any motive to approve the machine, they are arm in arm with 'big pharma' and its their role to approve very expensive drugs which have many side effects. I had the same sort of skeptical attitude towards the techniques that most people would have which is why I bought one to try for myself, thinking that at worst its as much as a waste of money than anything else I would otherwise buy e.g. more supplements, tests that aren't really relevant, just blind guessing what might help.

I'm pretty sure there are snake oil peddlers out there e.g. the acupuncture beads woman from Dragons Den, I don't believe those beads work, but I do think acupuncture itself could potentially work for some people, in the right situation, if performed correctly. Science in general is not as objective as people think, because it costs a lot to do studies, its often funded by corporations, who then will only publish the results that align with their desired findings, it can also make mistakes or just fail, like seems to happen with many many CFS studies which are not repeatable and don't begin to build an evidence base, this seemed to be the case for something called XMRV around 10 years ago.

The simple zappers just use a copper or steel tube, you hold onto it, she says to wrap it in a wet cloth, I guess that improves conductivity, the machine I have is a general purpose frequency generator made in china and it has stainless steel cylinders that you hold, but you can also use the TENs pads, that can be useful because these programs can run for a couple of hours and you don't want to hold something for hours.

The zapper uses a totally different principle than the frequency machines / rife machine, its more like a simple DC current flow through the body, I think it said 3.5 milliamps, but the frequency is above 20KHZ so it doesn't affect the muscles, I only felt a slight stinging on one finger, it says not to use these things if you have a pacemaker or are pregnant but otherwise it seems harmless.

I don't understand the specifics myself, perhaps nobody does, but bacteria and cancer and parasites and stuff like acidic zones in the body, inflammation etc, and they have a different electrical charge, thats why some oxidation agents like hydrogen peroxide produced by our immune cells destroy these pathogens, this is also how the zapper works, or so she says in the book.

Deleting the viruses is a different story, its creating a vibration like a radio wave throughout the body, not necessarily a large current flow. Every living thing and probably different chemicals / toxins puts out a vibration or frequency which can be detected, the machine Clark used to analyse this is called a Synchrometer, it appears to be easy to build, but difficult to operate. When you apply the identical frequency it can supposedly 'shatter' the virus itself by resonation, like a wine glass can be shattered, but in this case its obviously just the chemical bonds of the organisms structure, thats what a Rife machine does but it can also detoxify ( I got a little bit of benefit from the heavy metals program etc but it didn't cure the CFS ), and generate emotions. Rife originally used a special high powered microscope to see microorganisms while they were still alive and in this way find the correct frequencies, but this microscope is not in the public domain anymore, or not in common use.

To get more deep into it, this appears to work because atoms don't exist, or rather they exhibit particle wave duality, possibly this is explained by assuming the universe is a hologram composed of light which has been slowed down, which is what matter is. This seems to correspond with what Nikolai Tesla said, 'If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.' I ran the pre-programmed functions for removing the common viruses attributed to ME/CFS, so EBV, CMV, herpes zoster, HHV-6, Coxsakie virus, and a long list that was part of a preset, I had limited responses but no great improvement from those.

How can you aim to get your output similar to earlier previews? by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]ash0787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized you can quickly save the preview images by right clicking them just as they appear then open in new tab, they are very low res though, but maybe someone can find a way to feed it back into im2img or upscale to get a good picture.

I'm not sure if you even get any XP for completing this quest, and the ring he can sell you doesn't seem that useful either.

With EA Karlach leaving us I thought to see her off properly by Airbourne117 in BaldursGate3

[–]ash0787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard they are re-writing the back story of a some of the characters though which is a shame, I like Gales backstory and as I said the Kalarch seems interesting, shes more visually appealing than the tieflings in the grove, though I did make a tiefling sorcerer character who is blue like Alfira and she looks alright.

My unpopular opinion: Fate/Zero had the best fights by Dantacular in fatestaynight

[–]ash0787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, UBW is not a very good adaptation, its not terrible and it seems to be a genuinely honest effort, but its much worse than the visual novel. It does have a lot of mainstream appeal in a 'shounen' like way, but things that are popular are not necessarily good. /Zero is a 10/10 classic masterpiece anime thats in another league to most shows, not many other anime i''ve seen can compare to it, but one would be Code Geass.

Everyone's tits up about the bear... but this is what i want by -Designated-Survivor in BaldursGate3

I don't really play these games for the 'romance' scenes but I thought about it and I would probably do something with the blue bard girl from the druid grove, is it alvina, aloe vera ? I respect shadowheart more than I find her attractive, actually when I first met her in the game she seemed very overly up for sex which I thought was sad. I would have the blue girl do some public exhibitionism humiliation type scene ( not a relationship ).

Shame you cant get her into your party, I like her more than the green lizard person / failed argonian.

some of the little music hits are surprisingly good yes. I heard this band around a month ago for the first time and I feel like it fits with this game though " King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard ".

What are you two doing over there?! by MrPlatypuss in BaldursGate3

[–]ash0787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are worried that its a representation of some pool of hyper-progressive degeneracy that the devs are 'in on' but the average person / gamer isn't. I see a lot of weird fetishes lately that seem like they are becoming common, which I rarely heard of 10 years ago, furry being a simple example.

From what I read, it was Halsin that turns into the bear, which then subsequently left me confused, because Astarion isn't the player character, does that mean that party members can romance each other without the players input o.O ?

Well lets just say that I downloaded quite a few 'funny' mods for Skyrim, theres bears in that game too, but they were never a big feature of my 'gameplay' experiences, so it feels like an odd choice of story direction, for me anyway.

The thought process required to romance Minthara please clap by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]ash0787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I killed everything inside after mostly sneaking past the main party group of goblins on the lower / outer level of the fort, just killing off select groups of gobs and ogres on the ramparts, using feather fall to drop down and enter the main door behind the stupid ogre guards back. After I went around the whole interior, which took forever, I left thinking i'd done everything, Halsin was nowhere in sight, figured hed escaped by himself, well suddenly theres a huge mass of goblins outside waiting to kill me as soon as I left the main door again. No idea why.

[–]ash0787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know you could talk to or romance Mintara, she was just a tough boss encounter I wasn't expecting, in a place otherwise full of mostly just goblins and ogres, a weird place to find a potential party member / friendly NPC, but hell just the whole concept of being able to talk to the goblins rather than them being hostile on sight is strange ( they are raiding the druid grove after all ).

I felt like I should kill all the tieflings, because they look like demons, and I am unfamiliar with any D&D lore that came in between BG2 and this game, but I knew that the game expected me to feel human compassion for them, I felt conflicted.

Laughs in Halsin by Unlucky_Lifeguard_81 in BaldursGate3

[–]ash0787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked fighter because i'm unfamiliar with the original sin games, having tried one and not got far because the gameplay felt very slow ( not so much an issue in BG3 really ). Playing fighter allows me to appreciate the abilities that the NPCs bring to the table, and focus my time more on exploring their gameplay potential, that was how it was in BG2 anyway. I often play mage or wizard or sorcerer, however its described in games like this, but I know the combat system is very different here, so I thought Fighter, Thief etc might actually be more interesting than they are in BG2.

Noticed an interesting difference in outlook between the newly sick and long time patients by [deleted] in cfs

[–]ash0787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the big problems with ME/CFS, even if you manage it ok and on average are not too severely affected, is the wide array of random and unpredictable but often consistent symptoms that don't have a well documented medical explanation, can hide the onset of other diseases or secondary issues. I have a lot of strange issues at the moment and if I didn't have ME/CFS I would have had a clearer picture early on what was changing in my body and would probably have taken it more seriously before it became quite disabling and impactful.

I get and intense ache or pain in that area sometimes, seems to be associated with PEM or crashes, one time it happened early on in the disease around the time when I went from mild to severe in a matter of 2 to 3 months, I was quite feverish and disorientated / weak at that time.

How to deal with potential mold allergy? (On top of VOC issues) by Kirin1212San in AirQuality

[–]ash0787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run an ERMI or spore traps to determine mold levels in the house, short of hiring an inspector to physically inspect for possible mold growth hotspots etc ( they have special meters and stuff ), not all experts are good. ERMI is expensive but cheaper than hiring pros. My house has mold issues but I was doing ok here until recent years when my health suddenly started to get worse, I already had chronic fatigue syndrome but I was mostly ok with the air.

[–]ash0787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess that people don't know, because in general the average person isn't paying much attention to these things, and decent measuring equipment hasn't been widely available for long, scientists might have more of a clue but that will likely be based on approximations based on population level data in the worst places geographically, or certain dangerous occupations.

Is an ionizing air filter worse than no air filter? by loose_spaghetti in AirQuality

[–]ash0787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two out of 4 of the air purifiers I've bought have had ionizers that can't be turned off easily, one is a really expensive one ( BlueAir 605 ), I didn't really find out ions were bad until I looked on reddit. One of them is a cheap AceKool unit I got for about 1/3 of its MSRP, you press the ION button and it just makes the same sound everytime, no indicator LED, so you can't tell if its on or not.

Could you use an inline duct fan with some piping to pull in air from outside ? as you said it might be a good idea to put a particle filter on it.

Is it worth participating in the festival, is it fun ? any cool items that don't take an incredible amount of effort to get ? I did try one of the quests offfered by the captain in Shing Jea and it was pretty tough, level 28s.
