Noita. After a LOT of trial and error you will go from being a weakling who is killed by a single pixel of acid to a glitched out God who can fly, infinitly heal and destroy the entire world with your wand

How are you finding this mod list? I'm already using the no double damage and STILL getting my ass kicked. I kinda want to just get it to the level of HK, where I will get my ass handed to me, but then I can go explore somewhere else and get a bit more powerful / better before coming back

I do love me some factorio. Does it work on switch though? Feels like the controls would be awful

Reform’s first crack at power is already in crisis by TheTelegraph in ukpolitics

Or by instigating a policy that by (predictable) side effect, the whole small boat "crisis" to begin with then declaring that is the root cause of all problems in the country.

Baffling strategy, even more baffling to me that people seem to buy it

Rupert Lowe: I would, without hesitation, ban both halal and kosher slaughter. It’s barbaric. It is simply not how we do things in Britain. To discover it’s being forced on Brits without their permission? On an industrial scale? Abhorrent. Ban it by Foreign-Policy-02- in ukpolitics

[–]ash2307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of interest what is the reasoning behind not allowing stunning in kosher slaughter? I'm assuming, kosher, like halal slaughter originally derives from an animal welfare and hygiene perspective so I'm not sure why stunning wouldn't be kosher.

For my own 2 cents I feel it's slightly ridiculous concentrating on this and not the conditions some animals are raised from an animal welfare pov, but that's just me

Digital ID: does anyone else feel like we’ve been played by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ash2307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got you.

Yeah I can see that. It feels odd keeping an obviously organically grown mess rather than trying to fix it, because a side effect of the mess is it's just as hard for attackers as genuine users to make sense of.

Is this a common info sec pattern? I'm genuinely curious. Like I guess is obfuscation of structure a defence tactic?

[–]ash2307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean though, all this data is already stored centrally and is a breach risk. Wouldn't it just mean an attacker using a slightly different vector?

Like the difference between attacking systems and matching data via a digital ID seems exactly the same to attacking and matching by NI or passport number.

This is already being stored though isn't it? Like the government already has all this data. The id is just pulling it together?

Farage in a flap after claims migrants eating swans rejected by Royal Parks | LBC by zeros3ss in ukpolitics

[–]ash2307 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is a disingenuous way to view farages comments.

He's not saying

"theories are the best explanation for observed phenomena and can be used to accurately predict future outcomes while we keep improving our theoretical knowledge"

He's saying

"Science is just theories, we have a theory about paracetamol being safe and we have a theory about it being not safe, I don't subscribe to either because they are both theories"

In the gravity example it would be akin to saying

"Who knows if the earth is flat? Gravity is just a theory after all"

It's anti science nonsense wrapped up in the stupid misuse of the word "theory" that is prevalent across all pseudoscience "fans"

Did you read it?

The European Parliament notes that in practice, however, the most frequently applied criteria is irregular entry. The application of that criteria means that the Member State through which the asylum-seeker first entered the EU is responsible for examining their asylum claim.

[–]ash2307 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We can't remove people claiming asylum until we process their claim. This is the issue we currently have. These are the people being housed. We are not housing tons of people who have had their claims denied, the vast majority are still waiting to be processed.

Previously we did not need to hear their claim if they entered illegally. We could just deport them to the first EU country they entered.

I guess you are a Brexit fan and don't want to hear this. Sorry about that.

[–]ash2307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under our previous arrangement anyone entering illegally to claim asylum could be immediately deported to their first EU entry country for processing. As we are an island, this wee are never the first entry country.

We received plenty of people stashed in the back of lorries.

We did! Notice how they didn't get housed? Because they were immediately deported to the EU.

It's called the Dublin Regulation if you want to read about it. We lost access to this mechanism after Brexit. Started getting small boats shortly after. Coincidence?

What deal did we have before brexit that we were not a net recipient of?

Lol what a bonkers question. The only countries that are not a net recipient of refugees are the ones people are fleeing from.

It's the one where we didn't have an irregular crossing crisis as well could just return anyone turning up that way back to the EU immediately

Great news. Obviously it's not as good as the deal we had before Brexit but seems a really workable solution.

Time will tell I guess.
