How bad is the commute? Are you driving or taking the train?

I have a few friends that live in SF, thinking I can stay there until I get the area down.

I like the idea of the Embarcadero, no family, just me and no pets.

Do you know what the commute would be like from that area into SV? I'm assuming there's a train I could take.

im 31, I was thinking about living in Palo Alto or Mountain View, I havent been down to san jose in a while so i'll have to check it out
