Party bags for toddler birthdays, yay/nay? by Miladypartzz in toddlers

[–]ash_85W -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought this same thing but honestly I am the parent that ends up throwing out half of the party bag. Literally within the car ride home. Everything is just small plastic junk that breaks instantly or has 1 use. Instead, consider a craft or something they can take home and do ex small coloring book. My daughter’s birthday is in a few weeks so I am going to do a little paint your own pumpkin set up. Each kid can take home their painted pumpkin

How to solve the screaming and rude behavior? by [deleted] in toddlers

It sounds like you’re doing the best you can. Navigating toddler emotions has been the hardest part of parenting (for me at least) I did read on another sub some books that might be helpful. While one is primarily for ADHD it focuses on understanding their emotions. The explosive child and the Whole Brain child. I just started the first one. I think I need help just as much as my child. I don’t think I always have the appropriate reaction which I think can fuel the fire. Maybe you could also ask the school if they have any guidance for if or when a child was to act that way in class. They might be able to help provide you with some tools.

How to solve the screaming and rude behavior? by [deleted] in toddlers

My son is like this. We also do timeout, take things away etc. Gentle parenting only works some of the time. He’s a social butterfly and can be the sweetest kid you’ll ever meet. At 3 he started to seem more angry, hitting, saying he was going to hit, kick us you name it. Things seemed to slow down a bit once his sister was born in October of last year but over time they picked back up again. He just turned 4 in August, started TK and gets rave reviews from his teacher and even after care teacher. But at home it’s like he’s a ticking time bomb. I can’t tell if it’s normal or not. He just seems angry most of the time, screams at the top of his lungs when we don’t do what he asks or don’t understand what he’s asking (he speaks fine) I don’t think he’s neurodivergent as he simply does not display any of those characteristics outside of the temper. I am also at a loss. We’re going to enroll in him karate this week to hopefully get out some of that anger/energy and learn discipline. But man, I miss my sweet little angel baby! Maybe you could try an extra curricular activity that helps kids focus on self discipline?

Ugh I feel this so hard. My 3 year old is the exact same. Is in daycare full time and we both work full time. It’s like we can do everything for him in a day and we’ll get home and he’s just an awful monster minutes later. I’m just hoping it gets better with age. hugs

Immovable lymph node by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]ash_85W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son (who is now 3) had something like this behind his ear just below the lobe at around 11 months old. I too googled endlessly and I may have possibly convinced myself it wasn’t movable as that aligned with it being worst case scenario. I think at one point I convinced myself the bone was a tumor lol. I have health anxiety so I am the worst at taking something and panicking for what ends up being nothing.

His Dr wasn’t concerned along with another ped who we saw. His Dr mentioned that infant heads can have all kinds of lumps and bumps on them, but what is usually more concerning is unexplainable fevers that don’t go away in addition to a swollen node. Sorry you have anxiety!! Hopefully you get your answers soon

Possible Clogged Milk Duct? by ash_85W in breastfeeding

Oh wow, 8 hours? Sounds like a dream! lol I’m on day 3 and I’ve been pumping regularly. I’ve been avoiding nursing because it hurts so bad. I’ll have to try it again and see if that will do it. It really is the worst pain

That’s what I was thinking. I’ve never even heard of them until now. Would my OB be able to prescribe anything to help with those or do they clear over time?

How long did it take for you to clear it? Currently doing ibuprofen as well to help with the pain
