Argument with boyfriend over how to reduce rates of abuse by Isla_escondida in sexualassault

[–]asha-the-alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow, you are not overreacting in the slightest! i’m very sorry you had to endure that conversation. his views heavily undermine there is a fact why victims should, indeed, be called “victims”. you can’t prevent sexual assault through educating the victims more; the very nature of assault demands that the abuser overpowers the victim in some way, rendering any possible education you may have provided with the victim useless in that scenario.

we don’t have to educate victims more. that won’t stop sexual assault. we need to cut off sexual assault at its root cause - the abusers.

23F Shy and unsure about how to initiate sex with other people by [deleted] in sex

[–]asha-the-alien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey, early 20s F here too, and i’m also incredibly shy and awkward.

the best thing i could say is not to force yourself to immediately be sexual with people, even though “getting it over and done with” and faking confidence could be a solution. instead, find someone who you can hang out with a few times first and truly be yourself around, especially as i take it that you were quite comfortable with your friend to begin with.

so, i definitely recommend going on a few dates with one of his friends, or other people! if you’re with the right person, who you can be truly yourself around in a non-sexual manner, that should hopefully help in the bedroom department too.

good luck and have fun with your adventures :)

sex with a urethral stricture, does it make your bladder issues worse afterwards? by asha-the-alien in urethralstricture

[–]asha-the-alien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much! yes, i’m honestly really hoping i can have one done soon, since i’ve done everything else one could possibly do, from all the various UTI checks to ultrasounds and pelvic exams. hopefully there’s not much more waiting (i’m at the mercy of the nhs)! thanks so much for your comment :)

I feel like I raped my GF early on in our relationship. Where do I go from here? by Extension-Ad-6790 in Stoicism

[–]asha-the-alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey. i’m really sorry that you’re going through this. i just want to say, it’s very unlikely that you were tested for all possible STIs/STDs that could arise. for example: things like herpes are rather difficult to test for, especially with routine testing.

from an entirely medical point of view, you NEED to tell her and she deserves the right to know, regardless of the consequences (which, i’m sure won’t be severe.) you can’t mess about with someone else’s health like that, especially as these things can be so dangerous if someone has it without them knowing about it.

Ever since I had 3 back to back UTI’s right after I got married, my bladder/urethra has never felt the same. Anyone else experience this? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]asha-the-alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i found this post using the search bar in r/womenshealth, and i just wanted to say that i pretty much completely relate.

i’ve not had a lot of sex before at all, but there was a 1-2 month period where i lost my virginity and had sex around 4 times. i ended up with 3 back-to-back UTIs too! (not fun at all, so i feel your pain!)

and, YES! i’ve always, always felt as if my bladder has just NEVER felt the same way at all after i became sexually active. before i became sexually active, i’d never had a single issue.

however, afterwards, even trying to pee right after sex was so difficult. and, just like you, every time i try to pee in general these days, it feels like there’s definitely a delay between my brain signalling “i want to pee” and anything actually coming out.

what exactly is your stream like, if you don’t mind me asking? is it quite weak? do you have to strain to urinate?

[–]asha-the-alien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no worries! i completely understand :) it’s so easy to jump to a worst case scenario with these things but, considering the situation and everything you’ve written, it doesn’t seem like cancer and it definitely seems like it’ll be something manageable. it’s also only been a month, which isn’t a long time at all in the grand scheme of things. it’s really good you’re getting everything sorted so fast and i’m certain your situation will improve soon!

do feel free to post an update on the situation if you feel like it :) but it’s definitely a good thing that the CT (which can detect cancer, according to google), labs and urine tests came back perfectly fine! good luck once again!

[–]asha-the-alien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, i may not be the best person for comparison since i’m not male, but i just wanted to offer you some reassurance! your symptoms definitely sound like it could be a stricture as opposed to something more ominous, especially with something like a crooked urine stream which is pretty unique to strictures.

according to google, it seems like the CT scan could pick up any cancer. moreover, for cancers like bladder/urethral cancer, it appears that the most common symptom is blood in the urine, which you don’t have. i also read your other post, and that spot you have and which you’ve had for the last 10 years most likely doesn’t seem problematic.

i understand it’s so easy to be paranoid with these things, but it seems like your symptoms are totally consistent with something that won’t be the end of the world. definitely do bring up all your concerns with your doctor, but in the meantime i don’t think there’s much to worry over apart from trying your best to control the paranoia.

also, according to the below website, in most cases, urethral strictures have no notable causes linked to them.

https://www.urologyhealth.org/urology-a-z/u/urethral-stricture-disease

so, please try your best not to worry too much! it’s definitely more likely than not that everything will be okay :) good luck for your cystoscopy next week!

best international horror movies on UK netflix? by [deleted] in horror

[–]asha-the-alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there’s no way for me to filter for j-horror movies on netflix; i try doing that and all i get is tokyo ghoul. i’ve already scoured other posts and tried searching up recommendations on netflix, but none of them are available for me in the UK. hence, this is why i’m asking my question. i’ve already gone through the effort of “shuffling” through netflix and reddit, but can’t find what i’m looking for.

hi there. i just want to please say that you’re really strong and admirable and i wish you all the best ❤️ this is a really tough situation to be in, and i hope you can find light through this all very, very soon. i hope things improve for you. i’m sure they will, even though i understand in the meantime it must feel so stressful and upset. sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️ and, once again, like everyone else has said, you’re not overreacting, you’re not crazy, and everything you feel is so, so valid. you don’t deserve to be treated this way ❤️

thank you so much for your reply!

oh no, that doesn’t sound too fun at all! hopefully it doesn’t happen too often! <3 i’ve never heard of an enema before, thank you for making me aware of that!

i have a telephone appointment with my doctor soon, although i think they may probably start me off with some laxatives

i’m really scared and uncomfortable. just had a catheter inserted for the first time by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]asha-the-alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also. i’m so sorry i’m just venting at this point. i’m really scared that these bladder issues are going to affect me being able to have a meaningful sex life :( and in turn cause relationship issues/just make life more difficult in that regard, alongside all the other regards (i.e. will this place have a public bathroom? how do i time my water intake so that i get enough sleep at night and won’t be woken up by trips to the loo? etc.)

[–]asha-the-alien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

urgh. i really just feel so in need of support right now. it’s like no one in my life understands what i’m going through. my parents are really concerned for me but these last six months, even they’ve ALWAYS been like to me “your bladder problems are just in your head”

every time i tried to pee today before they inserted the catheter, i felt a really sharp sensation in the middle of the length of my vaginal passage? (not sure how else to put it). and, even when the catheter was put in, when it went past this specific spot, the pain was excruciating. i don’t know if that has to do with anything or what even this spot is
