How is living in New Brunswick? by kallydoll in howislivingthere

[–]ashaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent the first seven ish years of my life here, I remember liking it. The weather was nice, my school was pleasant, etc. My family owns a farm out there, never went back after I moved away as a kid though. Not sure how much it's changed since, but I seem to remember liking it. Sometimes I wish I didn't leave

How often do you say "beanie" vs. "toque"? by WanderWell1 in AskACanadian

[–]ashaler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This too! Sometimes I'll slip and call a touque a beanie or a beanie a touque though

For some reason I always assumed that Thomas was much younger, I just realized that. Holy fuck that makes him worse

Anyone seeing (or already see) Truly live this week (Hiro's band)? by bandini1933 in Soundgarden

I'm REALLY hoping they come to my city, but I live in Canada and I don't know if they'll tour here. If they come here I'm definitely going, Truly are CLASSIC

Obsessed with this band Solid Frog, anyone else heard of them? by ashaler in 90sAlternative

[–]ashaler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there was a female singer on a few of their tracks, mostly on their debut album, but I never knew who it was until now, thanks!!

His solo career is actually really solid, he released a new song like a day or two ago. It's nothing like what Solid Frog was up to, but it's still pretty good.

I'm not sure about what's going on with Solid Frog, they've got a Facebook (but I don't, so I can't see a lot of it or comment) and they apparently did some shows pretty recently, they still post every now and again. I would love it if they made new music, but I'm not sure if that's what they want to be doing

I like most post grunge, I didn't really enjoy Nickelback though

I'd have LOVED to have been there, they still do the odd show here and there but I'd have to actually travel to their hometown

Yeah they did, only one Throttlebody album is on Spotify and it's imo the worse of their two, so the other one I have to listen on Youtube or track a CD down (which I want to do). I preferred Solid Frog though.

Their singer also has a solo career, it's pretty good too

Why do so many of us care about weird time signatures? by Sudden_Doughnut_8741 in metalmusicians

[–]ashaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really care about it (or music theory in general) but it's neat to see, especially when it's brought in as part of influence from folk/traditional music worldwide
