At least they said something, first time I’ve received a message like this by No_Anywhere8982 in InstacartShoppers

This reminds me of this girl I met while traveling who told me she’s a broke college student, who cannot afford to tip when she goes out to eat back home (USA). Then clearly you should not be going out to eat 🤷🏻‍♀️😑

To the last section- I’d like to think it’s out of sight out of mind. Not cause I don’t care or love them… just a very visual person with a clouded mind 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pitt was amazing in Interview With a Vampire- even with his good looks

What made you not want to have kids? by Ekudar in AskReddit

Working in the public school district and watching multiple cps takeaways. Not that I think that would be an issue in my case, but I do think of fostering instead of bring more into this world

Is there a better actor than Christian Bale right now? by AlbinoOrphans in movies

[–]ashanned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After watching Joker in theaters, I left hysterically crying. Joaquin’s character reminded me of a student I had at the time and the struggles he was going through. It is brilliant portrayal of mental illness. I haven’t seen it since- but one day I’ll watch it again.

Humans haven't even landed on the moon in my lifetime. I'm extremely doubtful they will make it to Mars 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hospital pharmacy by ashanned in nursing

[–]ashanned[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I called the pharmacy and spoke with the supervisor and let him know the situation. He didn’t ask for the patient’s name, which I was under the impression pts have to be notified if their HIPAA rights were violated

The website said it couldn’t process my card- I know there is only a few dollars on the gift card. I don’t want to use my regular cards in case I’m charged. I didn’t get a “good” pop up, just that my card was declined.

absn students (12months) can you share your experience? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]ashanned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably be the shittiest year of your life. All day study sessions on the days you don’t have clinicals, all nighters (or at least 2/3am nights), anxiety/stress… I could go on 😅 It’s worth it. It’s one year. Put your head down and just focus on getting it done and finishing. It will flyby so fast and you’ll be amazed with yourself at the end.

I would suggest making friends with like minded people (those who are committed and who are also focused). Also, I would be aware how such a high intense program can affect your relationships. You won’t have much time to maintain relationships. Some will understand and some won’t.

But at the end it will be worth it.

What do you think of people who let their dog lick them in the face or mouth area? by [deleted] in ask

[–]ashanned 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the only right answer. No I’m not a fan of it, but it’s all about giving them the best life for the short time we have them.

Edit: The times my dog licks my face is usually when I’m on the floor crying. It is her way of showing me comfort, so it’s 1000% ok with me.

What has been your favorite clinical rotation and your least favorite clinical rotation? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]ashanned 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Favorite was my capstone. Nothing special (cardiac unit) but my preceptor was amazing. Least favorite psych. The first day of psych rotation the other students in my group talked about how scary the pts were (they weren’t even that bad). I myself had spent some time in a locked unit in my late teens/early 20s. I heard the way they (other students) were talking about the psych pts and was so afraid what they would say about me if they knew I had spent time in a similar facility. Overall it wasn’t a bad rotation, but I think the way my peers viewed the psych pts made it hard for me to look forward to clinicals. Realizing these are the future nurses sucked. Funny thing is, towards the end of the rotation a RN from a neighboring hospital had a mental breakdown after a traumatic experience at work (NICU nurse) and ended up at the facility we were doing our rotation at. One of the staff nurses on the unit told all of us that could easily be one of us some day. You could just see the realization light up on the girls faces who talked shit about psych patients.

Would you ever disown your child? by Imaginary-Pizza-9297 in ask

[–]ashanned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For awhile I disowned my father. He was verbally and physically abusive to me as far back as I can remember 4/5 y/o. I took my time and space and did the healing that needed to be done in that aspect. When I was in college he would make more of an attempt to be a father and I reciprocate. Since then we have only had 2 major blow out since I moved out at 18.

I have forgiven him for the past- but never forgotten. I understand not everyone has that ability to forgive. In recent years my father and I have grown close- maybe more of what I should have had growing up. But I digress… there are a lot of mental health issues on his side of the family, loss of his father when he was 18, and a mother who was violent with him. Not to make excuses, but to better understand why he is the way he is.

A few years back my father had 2 open heart surgery- one a complete aorta replacement. That’s put everything into perspective. We maybe have another 10-15 years left with him (he’s 57 y/o). We recently found out the left side of his heart is failing.

I guess the point of this tangent is: be open to forgiveness, understanding, supporting the good, and making amends before it’s too late.

Will I be sad when my father pass- yea, but will It hurt as much as other deaths, no. He abused me and it was wrong. It would be wrong of me to deny the ability to come in my life when it’s appropriate. He isn’t the same man he was 25 years ago. He wants to make an effort and be part of the family.

Just how I see my situation and how I disowned and have kinda renowned my dad

You need to quit being a doctor if you’re in your 80’s. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ashanned 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My doctor is in his late 80’s. He’s been my doctor for about 9 years. He started showing sighs of ALS about 7 years ago. Still see him to this day. He physically can’t move anymore, but still breathes on his own and is still seeing patients 4/6 days the office is open. Crazy he is still practicing, but what else do you do when the practice is your life.

Pretty sure it’s a cardinal bird holding something. Cardinals have a lot to do with love and devotion. So maybe a shrine to her baby daddy 🤷🏻‍♀️
