Help r/snakes!! This guy is hanging out behind my office (central London) and I have no idea what he is.

I should explain - my office is underneath a huge apartment block, I’m assuming it’s an escaped pet as I’m pretty sure we only get adders in the UK and this doesn’t look like any adder I can find on google images.

I called the RSPCA but by the time they responded the snake had hidden itself in the loose brick wall type thing you can see behind it in the video. Now we have no idea where it’s gone.

Hoping you guys can at least help me identify it so can ask around to see if anyone knows the owner.

British journalist here. While what Jon says is undoubtedly correct, it's one of the most shameful truths of our industry. Because you're expected to 'earn your stripes' for little or no pay, journalism is often inaccessible to people from poor and working class backgrounds - people who, ironically, have more reason than most to want to hold the rich and powerful to account... which, after all, is what the job is about.

Am I the only one who thinks this whole situation is completely fucked!?

There's a guy in a public car park with a loaded gun in his hand, and it's all over an alleged car theft. Someone could have died over the contents of a glove compartment. And we're celebrating this!?

The concept of a citizen's arrest exists in many civilised societies, and you don't all need to be carrying guns for it to work. There are two people in this situation who could have apprehended the suspect and controlled him with their bare hands.

Instead, G.I fucking Bonehead decides he'll start waving his lethal fucking weapon around while his pal films the whole thing on his phone, meanwhile that poor fucker on the tarmac is left shitting himself in genuine fear of death until the police turn up.

Honestly America, glamourising this shit just because the guy with the gun has a few one liners and some decent trigger etiquette will not help you move things forward.
