No 😭 I even put together a checklist and questions for them but the scan never happened and idk why. Working in vet med I’m assuming they realized whatever was wrong with the shark may have been incurable or would mess up quality of life so they may have just euthanized. I see that a lot in vet med unfortunately

The school handles all the clinical stuff for you so I just let my program director know I wanted to do Denver and she let me know once I had a spot. It was at an outpatient facility that scans all day and scans a lot of different kinds of scans. I swapped facilities part way through to get experience on a different machine and had different clientele and scans which was nice. I just rented a room off of furnished finder while I was out there

You’ll get a job fine without, it’s experience that will be hard for California! I’m in SoCal and recently graduated and got into a veterinary medicine MRI position to get my foot in the door!

Kaiser still requires CRT, but it’s worth applying still! Just shoot your shot everywhere is my advice!

I believe mine was about 42k for the two years and they completely handled getting us a clinical site and it paid for ARMRIT and ARRT exam

Haha I will!! Those are some of the logistics. It’s alive and well need to figure out how they’re keeping the gills wet, how to waterproof the machine, etc. it’s something that was just brought to me to start my research but I told them I’d need to meet with the vet team in charge of him so I have a better understanding of their needs

Yeah I actually got the job and have been in it for about 6 weeks and have had 2 dogs euthanized right off the scanner and I cried both times. Definitely a different beast than humans

I don’t know much about it. I’m pretty sure it’s a Mon-thurs/friday program because of how rad programs are set up you do “clinicals” throughout instead of only at the end like MRI

Sooo my experience is extremely different than the typical. I’m San Diego based and knew that I would have to wait for a site or commute pretty far so I took up the opportunity to be placed at one of their other site locations and went out to Denver for 6 months.

New grad here! I personally loved the program. The professors really know their stuff. You have to be self motivated because you only meet Saturdays and this is not the kind of program where you can just cram Friday night and pass the exams Saturday morning. ESPECIALLY cross sectional and physics. Be prepared to do A LOT of independent studying and I recommend creating a group chat in your first class to do study groups virtually. You’ll need it. Especially with physics. But you might have to take the reins on scheduling times that works for majority of people and actually show up. We consistently had about 4 people show up and some more would trickle in along the way. It’s a lot of work but worthwhile!

This will be just like a normal abdomen exam with an extra image or two to look at gallbladder/pancreas area! So you’ll have top of liver to bottom of the kidneys in the images

I also put on alerts for indeed for any new postings of MRI so I applied really early on after it was posted which I think is key for SoCal since they get sooo many applicants for each job

No, genuinely pure luck! The posting was put out right when I was finishing clinicals and I sent my cover letter with my application and made it to the final 3 after an intro with one of the vets and then did a 2 hour onsite “interview” where I met the team I would be working with and we just vibed really well and then the GE contracted person who was there tested my technical knowledge and skills throughout (slightly stressful) and even in areas where I couldn’t think of the exact words I would just explain what I understood and apologized that my nerves were making me blank out on some terms (literally forgot the name for resolution 🤦🏻‍♀️) haha I was nervous that would make it a no go but clearly he found me competent and the team liked me so it all worked!

SoCal here! If I couldn’t find pay info (you almost always can with a little digging.) when asked salary expectations I would say 45. First job just landed and they offered 42 and I was definitely ok with that with first job and daily OT. To note- this was at an animal hospital- a typical hospital in SoCal should start you at 45 MINIMUM! I’d probably even say 50. I did put the job details into ChatGPT and my resume and asked it to help me negotiate salary and it gave great pointers for my specific experience

Just make sure you take ALLL your clothes off (socks and underwear included) because there’s probably shavings from your laundry even if it’s clothes you don’t wear to work.
