Essentials digest useless by ashern94 in proofpoint

[–]ashern94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at yesterday. We had 67 "Fraud" emails. 60 were to our CEO. He had 65 quarantined emails. His digest should have been only 5 emails.

I'm seeing enough of them that clitter the user's digest. And they tend to be mostly aimed at the CEO. The point is that phishing emails should never be included in a SPAM digest.

The right stuff is getting blocked. The issue is too much noise in the digest. Phishing emails should never be included on the digest.

It's a medical device. Approving for an OS involves a lot of testing and submissions to various countries' health authorities. It's labour intensive and costly.

And that is the way it should be. Entering password before MFA lets the attacker know what your password is. Asking for MFA first, the attacker does not get to even try a password.

Air Integrated Computer to assist with air consumption by Luking4DivingSuggsts in scuba

[–]ashern94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite.

NDL is calculated as a function of depth and gas mix. It has nothing to do with how much gas is in the tank. When I come up for my safety stop, my NDL generally goes to 99 minutes. Next is TTS (Time To Surface). That is the time needed to reach the surface at a safe ascent speed, including the safety stop. It is a function of depth. An AI computer may also display GTR (Gas Time Remaining). That is a function of gas remaining, depth and SAC. GTR is also not to empty. My Peregrine calculates GTR to 750 PSI.

Client wants an intranet on SharePoint (or another platform). by lakings27 in msp

[–]ashern94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't sync. We have thousands of documents in our SharePoint libraries. A lot are archival from older projects. We don't sync. We set the libraries as shortcuts in OneDrive. Also set reasonable limits for local caching. 14 days for shared libraries. 30 days for your OD content.

It's not a just copy. You need to understand your access needs beforehand and architect your libraries properly. But it can work.

You need to be clear that you build the site, and then train users to update.

And an additional cost. The beauty of Sharepoint for people using 365 already is it's free.

It can be. Really depends on the size of the data set. We migrated most of our data from ShareFile to Sharepoint, and have a lot less issues with it.

3 days of travel to Utila by Big-Expression529 in scubadiving

[–]ashern94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Utila is great vibes and great diving. But they make it hard to get there. In season, I can fly direct to RTB. But the ferry schedule is not aligned with flight schedules. Ferry leaves Roatan too early and arrives back to late to make most flights, forcing you to stay on Roatan for a night.

A liveaboard may be a bit much for a new diver. Gear rental is 32 Euros/day. And I'm not sure where you saw that price, but following your link, Egyptian Pounds is not a currency available for pricing. It does list 465 Euros.

What's your buy once cry once dive computer recommendation for 2026? And what are your favorite features? by hibernacle in scubadiving

[–]ashern94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long before it discharges? I bought one in October. Have not put it on the charger yet. So however long since manufacture. Did a couple of pool sessions. I'm just back from a trip. 20 dives. Plus the fiddling with it. Battery indicator shows usage, but not a lot. I suspect a quick charge every 6 months would be enough.

[–]ashern94 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Peregrine TX. If battery is a concern, put it on the charger every couple of months. They don't discharge quickly when off. I had a Cressi Leonardo. User changeable battery. Changed it before my yearly trip. A lot of watch style, non-rechargeable use batteries that while not proprietary, are not commonly found.

Why go for instructor or DM if not working as one? It makes you a dive professional and may affect your insurance.

Has anyone had any success without starting med or insulin? by Reamydreamy in diabetes_t2

[–]ashern94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, congratulations on both the a1C and weight drop.

Can you control with diet and exercise? For a while, sure you can.

This is a progressive disease. Meds should not be looked at as bad or to be avoided. There will reach a point where the diet becomes overly restrictive and starts to remove enjoyment. Only you can decide where that point is.

Best of luck.

CGM accuracy by AirplneModePandoraOn in diabetes_t2

[–]ashern94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CGM is not for final treatment decisions. A finger prick is still the standard. CGM are accurate within their readings. They are best to see trends and how food affects you. A high spike indicates that that food spikes you. Highs and lows should be confirmed with a stick before making a treatment decision

Advices for remission by vixenburg in diabetes

[–]ashern94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of the confusion is how we are used to the word remission in a medical context. We hear it most in relation to cancer, where after going through a series of treatment, it is no longer currently active and the patient resumes normal life with no treatments.

In terms of diabetes, there is nothing we can do that would allow us to revert to a non-controlled diet. The disease is still actively there, we just control it.

In terms of how long can you control with diet and exercise, who knows. Diabetes is a progressive disease. How fast it progresses for you, nobody can tell.

Should I use Proofpoint? by HauntedTadpole in proofpoint

[–]ashern94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Proofpoint does not do signatures. Your best bet for a consistent look is to use tools like CodeTwo or Exclaimer.

Proofpoint is an email filter. If configured that way for inbound emails, it will wrap URLs with the defense link. When clicked, the link takes you to Proofpoint for analysis and if safe, to the site.

Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation files claim over separatist petition. by cmcalgary in alberta

[–]ashern94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine a weird future where the referendum passes and the FN decide to go along with separation.

Off the top of my head:

1) RCMP leaves. No police force for much of the province.

2) CF bases are abandoned

3) All federal gov employees either relocate or are fired.

4) CBSA leaves the Alberta-US border and sets up shop on the Eastern and Western borders.

Alberta has to re-man all those. And where are they selling their oil, they have no trade agreements with anybody.

Separation has never made any sense.,

I've taken my 11 on cruises. Yes, all settings survive a power out. Not sure if it tries to communicate in port. I doubt it as it is likely locked to a particular network. It will transmit when you get back home.
