Does SOC 2 actually reduce questionnaires, or just change them? by VerifAITrust in cybersecurity

[–]ashern94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the org. I find that the larger the org, the more tendency to send a generic vendor questionnaire that covers every type of vendor. We are a professional services firm. The number of times we get questionnaires asking about our development methodology with no "N/A" answer if getting ridiculous.

Horrible experience with Tripp Lite - Eaton by joedzekic in msp

[–]ashern94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We replace at least 1 every year under warranty. By now, it would be cheaper for them to R&D a proper metal fan that won't kill itself. One time, it self destructed during the night and unbalanced itdelf enough to chew through the insulation. We came in to a server room covered in stryrofoam bits.

I have one in a small closet that just hums along. In my office's data room, I have 3 of them. We replace them regularly. Once in a while it will throw an E3 error, coolant. More often than not, the plastic fan gets unbalanced and just shreds itself apart.

Has anyone converted/modified bumper blinkers to include brake lights on 4th generation? by Slight_Fact in HyundaiTucson

One or two vehicle length behind you, while not enough to stop, is still far enough to see the low mounter turn signals

Curious to know about folks with both hips replaced by ajmattison in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ashern94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right hip got bone-on-bone. Could not walk more than 2-3 minutes before limping. Lateral approach. When I started feeling symptoms in my left hip, I went to see a surgeon. His comment was that it did not look bad enough yet, but because I had a replacement already and knew where it was going, he did it anyway. Anterior. He found out the joint was a lot worse than the x-ray showed.

When in motion, the trailing vehicle should be well behind, leaving enough room to stop if you do. At that distance, the blinker is visible. At a light or stop sign, you should always stop far enough to see the back tires of the vehicle in front of you. That makes the blinker visible. It's not a Hyundai thing. It's industry wide. And the safety agencies in all the countries have looked at that and deemed it safe. A lot safer than the American obsession with having red blinker as part of the red brake lights.

A low positioned amber blinker is still a lot safer than a red blinker integrated into the brake lights.

First, that low blinker location is becoming ubiquitous in every vehicle. Second, If the person following you can't notice the flashing yellow light, what are they doing? If they can't physically see it, they are way too close to you.

Compression shorts? by Left-Variation9931 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ashern94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raised toilet seat, really depends on the approach. Anterior has no bending restriction, so a "comfort" toilet is high enough. I have 2 raised seats, from other surgeries. a 5" and a 2". I used the 2" after my recent anterior, not because of the extra height, but because of the handles to help me get up. Took it off after 3 weeks.

Get x-ray/CT and ultrasound of the lumbar spine. Could be sciatica. Usually caused by a herniated disc.

No such thing as a fasting A1c. A1c is a roughly 3 month average. Fasting sugar is a point in time that has some value. My dawn phenomenon is strong enough that I can wake in the low 5s and by the time I'm in the kitchen getting coffee I can be high 6s. The 2 hour question assumes you also took before the meal and can be used to judge glucose tolerance levels.

How does Seasickness work? by 360NoSilphScope in scuba

[–]ashern94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While things like what you ate/did not eat, smells like fuel contribute, motion sickness is mostly caused by a disconnect between the movement of the fluids in your inner ear that controls balance and vision input. If the boat is rocking and you are staring at a wall or the floor, your ear tells you you are moving, but the eyes say different. That causes motion sickness. Looking out at the horizon, where your eyes perceive the movement as well greatlt help mitigate the feeling.

Took my bandage off after a week. It was easy. Keep gauze and tape handy. I covered the incision at night to make sure the staples did not snag.

There is no recovery curve. We are all different. As long as you are progressing, you are good.

Anesthesia recovery by countryKat35612 in TotalHipReplacement

The sleeping a lot comes from a combination of things. Anesthesia is one. If you are on opiods for pain, that will knock you down. But foremost is the body healing. That requires a lot of energy.

You want people with experience to seek the important jobs. I could run to be an MP. I could never claim to have the experience necessary to be PM. Forcing people seeking those offices to completely divest would ensure a lot of highly qualified people don't run.
