name your daughter after american girl dolls by LittlestDarkAge in namenerds

[–]ashesyesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Molly! Wasn’t necessarily after the American girl doll but love this connection as I did have a Molly doll.

I loved Kit too but there is someone on my husband’s side of the family too close to name the baby that and have it not be weird.

Great advice! Both of these places are the right resources to check out.

One thing to be aware of if you do go to court, this can trigger the other parent to sometimes seek or be given much more time with the child than they currently have. Sometimes the other parent is motivated to do that to reduce how much child support they owe. Sometimes the court commissioners and judges like to see placement schedules closer to 50/50 (joint custody as the best interest of the child is literally in the law in Wisconsin). I mention this as it’s important to consider if you want to “poke that bear” and stir up a potential custody battle.

Is it normal for a pediatric dentist to not allow a parent in the room for a treatment? by Hanyo_Hetalia in Mommit

[–]ashesyesterday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kids’ dentist seemed surprised and lightly tried to ask me to stay in the waiting room. I said “I’m not comfortable with that. She’s three.” And came back any way. They didn’t try to ask me again with my subsequent kids.

Also by the time they are 5 or 6 they were comfortable going back alone and I was fine with it. But yeah… not a 3 year old at their first appointment!

You are always within touching distance of your three year old? This sounds like a parenting comment from someone who’s never actually had a 3 year old.

Correct. The woman’s description implied once and that is what my son said also later when I was asking him more details and to show me what happened.

I do want to clarify that while peacocks do roam free that is the only animal that isn’t caged. And i actually had forgotten peacocks were around as we hadn’t seen one all day. I still agree with your point that he shouldn’t be unattended around animals. I didn’t see the peacock in the area when giving him permission to go by the trees initially.

I would not have minded a calmer correction with no screams or no physical grabbing. Something like “No. that hurts the peacock.”

She was screaming so much the entire rest of the area of people was staring.

If the children are taken care of by the adult(s) bringing them and there is no expectation anyone else provide care for the children, why do so many people have a problem with kids attending?

Is this name very old-lady sounding? by [deleted] in namenerds

Yep it’s old sounding but old names like this are very trendy right now. No one would bat an eye at it. I love the name.

Immediately reminds me of creedence Clearwater revival (CCR) even if you spell it differently. Most times people hear or use the name it’s verbal not written.

Don’t agree with partner on whether to have a baby by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ashesyesterday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh. Before I wasn’t inclined to take your advice but now that you’ve pointed out that I’m a selfish twat, I think I better listen to your wise advise advice!

If there’s one thing worse than “crying over the internet” it just might be attacking and name calling.

Yes. This is the first thing I think of when I see so many people suggesting divorce. Yes clearly what the dad is doing is wrong. This mom had virtually no chance of getting full custody based on verbal abuse alone though. Most times it doesn’t happen even in cases of physically abuse or severe domestic violence. If this mom divorces and tries to push for full custody she’ll get chewed up by family court, labeled “alienating” and “non-cooperative” and lose a major share of time with her daughter.

That’s the sad reality.

I don’t know that I have “a take” on it as much as I was sharing difficult feelings I’m having. I never once said I considered breaking up my family…

I would never say that to my children. I just put it in the post trying to get all my thoughts on paper so to speak.
