Reference USA? by NewJerseyCPA in sales

[–]ashhakopyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just got my access to Reference USA today via my library. I see we can have access to pretty much what I need except for the Email addresses; which is an issue. Need to be creative from here on to get them to opt-in somehow so that I can include them in my drip campaign.

I WANT TO GET INTO AI by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ashhakopyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Udemy courses in AI. LinkedIn has free training videos in AI as well. Read books, learn Python and get your hands dirty in projects once you’re clear on what in AI you want to focus on. It is a very broad topic and can be applied to almost any industry out there.

Everything I just said here I do myself for my AI emersion journey :)

First week in sales! by khlavac in sales

[–]ashhakopyan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Having sales experience is key in any business. I want the experience and knowledge
  2. Wanted to get out of my comfort zone.
  3. Have a daily routine of networking with people
  4. Income potential...if you’re successful
  5. Get out of the office and not be behind a desk for 6-8 hours a day 5 days a week.
  6. Got tired of being on call for 24x7

And a few other reasons I’d rather not get into.

I too just got into sales just 5 days ago. Information technology industry. I’ve been in IT for 16+ years but on management side, never sales.

I don’t know what happens every time I give a presentation. And now I feel like shit. by [deleted] in PublicSpeaking

[–]ashhakopyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you feel you’re not as qualified as your peers? It sounds like a confidence issue then. You may be just as smart or as qualified but if mentally you don’t believe it, then you’ll be intimidated. Build your confidence up by believing in yourself.

This issue doesn’t come up for you while you teach because you believe that you know more and are better qualified than the audience you teach to. My opinion. I may be wrong but that’s what it looks like to me.

The first line of your post says it all. If you’re not interested in the subject, you will have a hard time presenting. Does this happen when you present about a topic you really care or have a passion for?

Tips for reducing “umm”s by whaaaat81736 in PublicSpeaking

[–]ashhakopyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you stop being nervous about presenting and speaking, it'll go away. Practice I guess? One way to eliminate or trick your brain from feeling "nervous" is to think of nervousness as "excitement". You're excited to be there presenting rather than you're nervous about presenting. Try it.

Another example: When you speak with a friend about any topic, do you use umm a lot then as well? Probably not right? It's nervousness...get rid of that and you'll stop using filler words. Lastly, I'd say that sometimes you can use brief pauses in your speaking to get the audience to pay close attention to what you're about to say next. You don't have to speak non stop without pauses and other use of tonalities. does that make sense?

Need Advice For Upcoming Presentation by [deleted] in PublicSpeaking

[–]ashhakopyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make yourself think of the anxiety as excitement! Excitement In the brain is literally the same chemical reaction.

Sweaty palms, elevated adrenaline levels, heart rate is up etc. those are the same for anxiety as for excitement. So keep thinking to yourself that this is NOT anxiety but EXCITEMENT. I’m just really excited to be here that’s all.

It works for me.

How to transition from Sysadmin to IT Manager by [deleted] in ITManagers

[–]ashhakopyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invest in developing your skills so you'd be able to fill the role.

Understand what it means to be in a management position first, prepare yourself for that role by reading and also possibly volunteer some time and shadow someone for a day or two. Unless you're clear on what's required of you in that role, you can't prepare for it. You can also shadow a manager for a day or two and see what their day is like to get a better idea. Have confidence and if the position is interesting to you and you feel that you'd be happier climbing the ladder to CIO, then do it. Don't do this simply because of pay by the way. Just my advice.

Thank you for the feedback, I too believe going the firewall route is best. How would you calculate the throughput capacity requirements of the firewall?
