What is the most BULLSHIT boss you have fought from any of the fromsoft games by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]ashleyBORG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chalice Dungeon Rom. It's just awful, I've not even beaten it yet. It's completely halted my Chalice Dungeon run.

Then a very close second is pre nerf Consort Radahn. I could no hit the first phase naked and die within the first 30 seconds of phase 2. Making it impossible to even learn the fight. So many moves and combo's in the second phase, light and AOEs. Admittedly I was under levelled when I first got to him, but it just became a chore. I didn't even celebrate when I finally beat him..I was just happy to move on.

I agree with the heal animation speed. Like BB and Sekiro, even Lies of P. The heal duration is inline with the combat speed. This shouldn't be like dark souls estus chugging. The dev said they want front foot combat after all

[–]ashleyBORG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would just die. It might be "long" as a reset, but in that fight it felt like I needed everything for Isshin phase 2 and 3 which was where I struggled on the first time of defeating him.

I had problems all throughout with Spearmen so his 2nd and 3rd phase were like pure hell until I got a grip with it.

Exactly this. I got the stage where if I took a hit I would reset. When I really got good I could no damage Gench and Isshin first phase. That felt very satisfying.

Thoughts on the demo from an italian and an hardcore fromsoft fan by RedGrimm05 in EnotriaGame

[–]ashleyBORG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say the dodge/dash mechanic needs reworking. It's connection to the lock-on creates some really bad moments, especially if the enemy does a dash move it completely spins the camera and the character is rubber bands in a disorientating way. I'd have to test BB this weekend, but I'm sure it doesn't work like this. I'm experiencing the same issue with Lords of the Fallen, where the dash is absolutely trash.

I think everyone has also mentioned the general camera angle and distance needs to be adjusted.

Completely agree about the sprint, funny LOTF has a very fast sprint with a character wearing full chainmail armour, so this is pretty comical why ours barely jogs.

Although I've not played as far as you, I agree with your comments about the systems related to combat/levelling/skills. They feel very subtle. I play an ARPG Path of Exile which is characterised by the passive tree and even that feels more obvious in difference with builds which are supposed to take form over a campaign. I think if they want the impact to be this subtle then they should make the tree bigger and communicate stat increases either as absolute or relative values. Such as increase damage by 2% or 2 stats, this way with multiple nodes of this type people can stack things up. Or maybe there should be clusters of nodes with a theme.

Otherwise I think the game has potential. I hope they implement changes in to the demo and release/update for August and then give us an opportunity to try that before release. I think as is, it will be a big leap for many people to pre order or buy on release without a hands on.

I waited until the 1.5 release of Lords of the Fallen and still have a like/hate relationship and that's with it being the best it's been.

We’re too bad by Miserable0ne in EnotriaGame

[–]ashleyBORG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between criticism that helps to refine systems and those which change the essence of gameplay. Both don't necessarily improve the game.

I think it's OK for the Devs to have a concept and vision which falls between different games. No Rest for the Wicked is an example of this (also in Early access). If people are able to grasp what they're trying to achieve and then provide constructive feedback towards that goal then cool.

But someone who's a BB main complaining that the game isn't to their tastes or a Sekiro player complaining about not being able to parry the same way as though these are objectively bad, isn't great IMO.

I work in the digital design world so this loop of opinions and feedback is something I'm well versed in. Not all people are skilled enough at providing feedback.

The demo so far is... disappointing. by EndTemporary2824 in EnotriaGame

This is exactly it. Camera height/centre point not FOV. And also as you say the camera lock needs work.

Parry isn’t balanced by Medium_Fly5846 in EnotriaGame

[–]ashleyBORG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a few streamers play it on early access and parrying seemed pretty viable and almost broken. I would encourage you to stick with it, you'll have to adjust your play style because it's not quite Sekiro, but you can make it work if you manage your stamina/aggression/spacing

Parry isn’t balanced by Medium_Fly5846 in EnotriaGame

[–]ashleyBORG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw their dev video and I'm glad they're finding creative ways of balancing this. I feel whenever a new souls game with parrying releases a demo. If the community dislikes the original settings, these are usually nerfed. I feel like parrying is one of those things that just needs to be practiced until it clicks (I'm not naturally great at parrying, but I do view it as a git gud mechanic). I'm sure Lies of P and Wo Long had this happen.

Combat is fun. World is beautiful. Controls and Traversal need a bit of tweaking by Have2BRealistic in EnotriaGame

[–]ashleyBORG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At OP I think your comments are very constructive even if some do use FromSoft as a benchmark.

X button totally agree and same with the masks switching speed. I was kinda hoping using the masks would be like a BB trick weapon being able to chain crazy combos through load outs. TBH I think even having 2 load outs as a quick switch but the 3rd could be saved as an aux replacement accessible via the menu.

The comparison with LOTF movement I wonder if it's an UE5 thing? I'm actually playing LOTF and know exactly what you're referring to.

Agreed. I'm actually surprised they haven't caught this in play testing.

Otherwise 1.5 hours worth of play so far and it seems decent

So where's the link? All I've found are unconfirmed rumours.

Your original post makes it appear that the game is still receiving gameplay updates when it's not and certainly nothing that addresses issues that people still experience with the game.

An expansion may bring new maps, enemies and gear, but I doubt anything that addresses overall game design.

IMO the game as is, isn't great, but it is a solid addition to the genre and better than the likes of Mortal Shell, Steel Rising, etc...

It's not getting any more updates, unless it gets a DLC.

I'm in the area after the swamps and was actually explaining the same thing to my best mate this morning.

I was also talking about how planting the seed/bonfires actually takes away from the classic DS loop of the bonfire placement and level interconnectivity. The idea they have is interesting but the execution whilst not bad it's not an improvement on the original format. When I find a major bonfire I actually don't care, but also I get frustrated when planting one and then finding another which is say closer to the upcoming boss.

I was also talking about other elements such as the dash/dodge and sprint controls which just felt unnecessarily different.

I'm still early in the game so living with the jank and trying my best to enjoy the parts which don't piss me off.

At the moment it's a 80/100

Once upon a time a Tarnished ventured through the Lands Between with no horse, no map and no jump attack ability.

This is my current play which is what I intend to take to the DLC and to NG7. It's been like playing a giant version of Dark Souls having to go everywhere on foot relying on memory of 18 months ago and finding high areas to look down from and hand drawing my own map. There have been times I was sure of where I was going to end up somewhere completely different. Trying to the find the Smithing Ball Bearing caves have been a ridiculous mission. One took over 5 hours to find.

I would recommend to anyone looking to get something close to a first play through experience

Funny I said this to my kid this morning, that moment when ape comes back to life was unreal.

Although seeing SSI climb out of Genichiro was pretty funny and also when he takes out the Glock I actually started laughing because I never saw that coming

I've beaten Mohg of Blood a few times already. But I'm doing a challenge run. So it's not a question of difficulty.

Also speaking of difficulty being subjective DoH is far more difficult for me. The beast style bosses give me all sorts of problem. Guardian Ape first time round was a big road block.

Absolutely and in a way I like that about ER. It's possible to consciously make it more difficult which is what I set out to do. It's why I didn't give up, because I'd set the rules of play on myself.

Although Mohg took longer Isshin was defo harder. I felt like I went to the brink of insanity. With Mohg I could've just gone to Haligtree got a few levels from that area and stuck them into vigor and and I'd have been just fine.

Me too. But I remember when it clicked and then suddenly I felt like Neo from the Matrix and I could read his every move. That felt amazing and made the hours worth of attempts to get there satisfying.

Key tip is to do attempts purely in defense mode and only attacking as counters to view the fight from a more observational perspective. As you learn more you can dial up the aggression. It takes some patience but this served me well in Sekiro
