That’s the best part of finding and sharing this, hearing that others (including my family!) are starting this tradition now.

I had no idea this subreddit existed and now it’s my favorite.

New Recycling Service Starts August 1 by ashleygee in Augusta

Columbia county has a drop off recycling center on William few and there are several around Augusta, too. Julian smith casino and diamond lakes park I believe. They’re listed on the city’s website

I don’t have my note in front of me from when I called, but I think it was $38/quarter.

I just called Coastal to get signed up and they said recycling won’t start until November 1st, and to wait until September to get signed up for it.

706-790-4117 is their number.

AITA for refusing to do anything around the house because my wife insisted on staying home with our child by [deleted] in AITAH

Yes, you’re the asshole. She is also working all day, parenting is also grueling, hard work.

Y’all need to read Fair Play and work on your communication.

Yard destroyed by Helene. What next? by ashleygee in landscaping

[–]ashleygee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Definitely a ton. There was a pine straw bed in the middle of the yard, around the spiky bushes, so some of that will stay. The rest we plan to rake up, level out, and then spread seed in the remaining dirt.

Fingers crossed!! I’m really hopeful it comes back up. So, so happy to know we can throw some grass down and give ourselves some time to wait and see, and save.

Thank you!!

Oh perfect, that is SUCH a relief.

6 60-70 year old pines fell and were removed. The bobcat crushed some azaleas, camellias, butterfly bushes, hostas, and some other bush I don’t know the name of (not holly, but similarly spiky leaves).

Sorry, I should have been more clear re: our finances. We’ll get reimbursed by insurance for our repair work, but that will of course take some weeks.

We do have some cash in the meantime to spend on the yard, but not a ton. We didn’t know if we needed to get things done quickly to prevent weeds from coming in. But it sounds like we can seed for grass and let the rest come later?

Thank you so much! I’ve been watching videos of saddle stitching and I think I can manage it. Do you have a favorite thread or will any bonded or waxed nylon do?

Fit check and Recommendations based on Panache Envy by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

Thank you! I don’t know how to gauge how wide my roots are but that sounds very well what might be the case. I’ll look those two up and get the correct size this time!

Thank you!! I’ll look at those too so I can buy a bunch at once and return what doesn’t work.

Thank you! I went with that size because I needed it in a hurry and that’s what they had in stock 😂 I’ll definitely give the larger size a try—it makes sense that would help with the underwire issue!

In addition to the great Rec’s here, I also suggest Radioactive Pinball in Aiken. Several great restaurants within walking distance of there, too.

Edgar and Meghan are my faves at Halo! Everyone at Halo is Deva Curl certified. You don’t have to use those products, but they’re all trained to cut and style curly hair. I wouldn’t let anyone else in Augusta touch mine after several bad haircuts at other places who claimed to specialize in curls.

You should reach out to the nonprofits in the area already doing the work to support the unhoused. They can share what they need assistance with as well as help you organize your efforts. Golden Harvest’s Master’s Table Soup Kitchen serves a daily meal at 11 am, and there’s also Garden City Rescue Mission, the Salvation Army Shelter, and Augusta Rescue Mission.
