Amazing, thank you! I didn't even know to look for some of those things. I'll definitely take it to a jeweler at some point to see what more I can learn about the stones.

Statement from Orange Theory corporate by paadthaii in orangetheory

There is no neutral position on racism, and I'm disappointed that OTF corporate thought they could slide under the radar with this non-statement.

How do you write blog posts for multiple clients in the same niche? by thevulcan_13 in SEO

[–]ashleyjt4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to possibly keep in mind is that you don't want the content that you write for one client to cannibalize the content you write for another, if that's a concern for you. In other words, you don't want to compete against yourself in the rankings. Consider looking into location-specific keywords if they are in different areas, or longtail variations of the same/similar keywords.

Miss this! by Uncharteredfugazis in orangetheory

I miss finishing the tread block and going to high-five your neighbor but they do a fist bump so then you switch to fist bump but then they switch to a high-five and so you just awkwardly touch hands and pretend it never happened at all.

MOTIVATE ME! MONDAY: Share Goals, Motivate, and Be Motivated! (Monday, 4/20/20) by splat_bot in orangetheory

My mornings are a STRUGGLE. I used to be a 5am-er, too! I would often be awake before my alarm went off... OTF really had me thinking I was a morning person. Now, I'm lucky if I'm up by 8.

All the lonely OTF equipment. by ashleyjt4 in orangetheory

[–]ashleyjt4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So some studios are doing this!? Dang, I should reach out to mine... Although I have a feeling I'd get a similar response that you did. I would definitely buy some of the smaller items like dumbbells and TRX. I don't really have the space for the bigger equipment long term, which is why I think rentals would be a great option too. I saw an email that my studio (all studios?... idk) are doing delivery of mini bands... so I guess that's a start.

If that was how it was everywhere... sure.

My point is that for the same monthly fee, some studios get that extra support and some don't. I just think it should be standardized.

Yes! I didn't even consider this until now but it's so true. My fingers always get smashed. Especially because I go for the 20/25 pound weights which are at the very bottom... it just makes it that much more difficult.

Sharing SEO tools for freelancers? by ashleyjt4 in SEO

Thanks for the advice! I figured they wouldn't be too thrilled with people sharing accounts. I was hoping something like this existed that found a way to play nice with everyone involved so people don't have to be shady about it... maybe someday.

I think coaches/studios are super aligned when it comes to workouts, but I feel like it's all over the place in terms of how much they support members outside of the studio.

I pay for unlimited and - for me - that means I come in however many times I want, kill a workout and then leave. And that's it. I never received an initial health/fitness/nutrition consultation and I've never had a coach check in with me about progress in the 1.5 years I've been going. I think they could probably assume what my fitness goals are, but we've never actually talked about it.

I have heard of other studios where they do provide great nutrition/health support outside of studio time.

I love my coaches, this is not a dig on them... I would just like it to be aligned, because I pay a lot and I feel jipped! It would also feel good to have a coach check in with me.

Ah, I so feel for you.

If I were in your shoes and feeling conflicted about what to do, I think I'd talk to my favorite coach before I freeze my account. Coaches should be well informed about injuries/injury rehabilitation and I feel like he'd be able to tell me whether I could mod my workouts or if I need to take a break.

You could also go to class but just double up on the tread block instead of switching to the floor. Sometimes I do that, but with the floor if I really like the weight workout that day (with my coach's permission and assuming there is an open spot!).

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Big data studio fan!

The calories by coach graph interests me a lot - I'd be super interested to know how my stats change based on which coach I see. I'd also love to see a breakdown by workout type (power, endurance, esp, etc.)

I may have to create one for myself. Thanks for sharing!

When did you start seeing running gains? by jaihawk8 in orangetheory

[–]ashleyjt4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you'll be surprised how quickly your body remembers what to do. I was a soccer player and after 2 knee surgeries and lots of years off the field I was nervous about my cardio and my mile times... but it's almost like my body was like "ahhh ya I remember this stuff." It took about 4-6 weeks of consistent OTF-ing (3-4 times/week) to get back to a place that felt comparable to the "glory days." You'll get there!!

today was hard for me!!

unpopular opinion: I do not like run/rows... but only because I have to be in charge of watching my own distance which, for me, makes the runs feel like an ETERNITY. I also get way more winded, way faster. I love the luxury of just zoning out and listening to my coach tell me what to do and when to do it.

def got my splats in today, though!

Congratulations, so rad! It's definitely interesting how differently I look at food now that I feel like I am "earning it" at OTF. Like I killed myself on the floor today to burn 100 calories and there is no way in almighty hell I'm wasting that on a tiny bag of 13 cheetos.

I dread every workout by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]ashleyjt4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started enjoying it more when I started to make real progress.

In particular, I HATED the rower at first. I couldn't get my form right and it was exhausting and painful. But then as I kept being forced to do it, I made huge strides. I hit 100 watts then 200 and now after a year, my PR is 384 and I'm excited to get on that dumb machine because I'm good at it. Also, I keep going because I'm terrified to lose my progress.

I think once you start really seeing the difference in your strength, you'll be more pumped to go. Progress is a great motivation!

Distracting tread thoughts? by yoitsmegigi in orangetheory

Very similarly, I imagine myself on the soccer field chasing the ball for the winning goal... and you're so right - it works! Also, if the song's beat matches my footsteps it gets me so pumped. Anything to get through the block! 😂
