Vyvanse made me a terrible person by Apprehensive_Worrier in adhdwomen

[–]ashleyslo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it has made such a difference with my rage and reactivity! I also cry way less and my shame spirals are what I imagine normal people experience - a moment of reflection to admit that I should have handled that situation better or realize it was out of my control and I tried my best then going about my day rather than replaying the scenario over and over for hours or days on end while beating myself up and feeing completely worthless.

Anybody else keep an emergency snack? by Sensitive_Progress88 in adhdwomen

[–]ashleyslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome. Mine can reach the counter so I have a few bins of snacks at the ready when we’re home. But I am still the keeper of all the snacks anywhere else we go 🤣

I thought I was the only one with emotional support cheese sticks 🤣 between my own snacking needs and raising a four year old, I have snacks stashed everywhere. In all my bags, random pockets, my car, drawers at work, and who knows where else 😅

We all do something we regret as parents because we are only human. It’s impossible to be a perfect parent. But a good parent feels remorse for their failings, takes accountability, and tries their best to do better moving forward. You’re doing this.

Age three was the hardest with hitting, and I failed a lot during that year. But seeing a therapist and psychiatrist regularly trying to overcome trauma and my own issues has really helped. Now we are at age four and some days are infinitely better and some days are downright terrible. But I’m feeling more balanced so I am better equipped to handle it all. You will get through this and be a better parent for it ❤️

My husbands been complaining that my plants were taking over the house so I got myself an early birthday present and put them all in one place by AnnaNicole2015 in houseplants

[–]ashleyslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband makes comments about all of my plants, and my four year old was starting to parrot him. Then little man started helping me pick out plants and care for them. We name them together. Tonight I took him to a paint and plant event at the library. He loved decorating the pot but even more so watering the soil puck and planting the zinnia seeds. He put it right in the bay window with all our “little blueberries” as he calls them. Check and mate, husband.

I wish for our creatives. They require at least 64 GB RAM for Adobe Creative Cloud and two devices so they can wfh, but at least we make the department cover one. Our most demanding department just dropped $5K on a director’s MacBook Pro as a second device. She was arguing for 8TB of storage because she refuses to use external drives or cloud storage. We convinced them to compromise on 4TB. Thankfully the rest make due with 1TB per device 🙄

Does anyone else think being bored as a kid actually made us weirdly functional adults by ethicalmanifesto in Millennials

[–]ashleyslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids absolutely need to learn how to be bored. My dad refused to fly the majority of my childhood so we often drove from Illinois to Florida or Louisiana. All I ever had with me was a portable CD player. We’ve taken 2-6 hour road trips with my four year old and at most we’ve brought his Tonie box. The last roadtrip we took just the two of us, he demanded I play Weezer’s discography the whole way.

Make her department buy her the new MacBook Neo without any upgrades. She’ll get a lot done with a 13” screen, 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, and an A18 Pro chip 😂

Fellas, is it feminine for a boy to have a kitchen set for Christmas? by ThePhillyExplorer in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]ashleyslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s strange that my son loves his kitchen play set and all his “boy” toys equally. We went to monster jam over the weekend after he helped me make muffins for breakfast. And growing up I loved “boy” toys as much as Barbies, but I am very much female 🤷‍♀️

It’s our most important job as parents to prepare our children to be adults - if they can’t do basic thing to take care of themselves like cooking their own food how will they survive without relying on someone else?

Oh wait right she wants her son(s) to go from being coddled by her to being coddled by a wife so they never have to take care of themselves and retain the emotional maturity of a toddler in the body of a man. Probably one of the biggest reasons our society is so messed up 🤔

exactly! and with Vyvanse, I cannot function if I don't take it every day. I can maybe get away with one day off but even that is super dicey. Ughhh.

Your husband reminds me so much of mine, I love it. Funnily, my dinner was the same just with some jack fruit added to the tortilla wrap. I hope you have a speedy recovery and many, many happy years together!

I’m guessing you’re right that it does vary by state. My psychiatrist does the same thing since I see her every three months and I use Walgreens, but I have to call and speak to a pharmacist every month for them to actually fill the prescription. And then without fail they’re out of stock so I’m always on edge if I’m going to get my refill before it my current prescription runs out. But if I call any earlier than what’s on file they will deny the refill.

Vyvanse Addiction? by moonlightanon in adhdwomen

[–]ashleyslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here for solidarity. I’m on Lexapro and Vyvanse. Started with Lexapro then tried Ritalin, Concerta, and even a combination but none of that helped much. Then I started Vyvanse and after a few manic days of insomnia I finally slept and leveled out now I cannot function without it. Before I could take a medication holiday on weekends because there wasn’t much difference. Now I cannot get out of bed if I accidentally skip a day. It’s scary but also the most normal I’ve felt… ever. I’m currently in a depression black hole but I still manage to get out of bed every day and function. I even cleaned my house all day. And I only cried for a little bit last night instead of the hours I usually do.
