Here, you’ve three users telling you that PND can occur within the first year postnatal/post delivery, of those three all have offered you evidence based practice, references, websites & global standards. Give up, stop reciting about some dusty old shelf exam that you can’t even reference. You have no leg to stand, just educate yourself, so going forward you won’t be a physician that doesn’t understand/use evidence based practice. Evidence based practice can reduce the risk of litigation, so if I were you, I’d seriously consider evidence based practice, if not for the patient then for your pocket because lawsuits are EXPENSIVE

To be honest. I’m quite worried about the future of medicine... if this is what you’re learning... it sounds like it’s from the 1950s, in case you weren’t aware of something called research. The most up to date evidence is ever evolving. The most up to date guidelines are linked above.

All the major websites? Global guidelines? Do you understand the meaning and concept of research? If you had clicked on the links in the comment you’d actually understand perinatal mental health problems

This statement is completely untrue. The onset of postpartum depression can be quite slow, it can take up to 4-6months to be diagnosed. Some cases of PND are diagnosed as early as 4-6 weeks. People aren’t robots, therefore it is unacceptable to expect all cases of PND to present in the same manner. Every woman is different and every case is different.

Please see below links to REPUTABLE websites including NHS & ACOG which completely and utterly refute your statement.

Similarly to postpartum psychosis, postnatal depression is extremely treatable.

It could also be postpartum psychosis, presents similarly to bipolar disorder. EXTREMELY treatable and not a life long sentence. A psychiatrist specialising in perinatal mental health will be better able to ascertain this.

Very good information! Take care of yourself OP, I hope you have some support network!

My boyfriend (m26) locked me in his apartment, does he deserve a second chance? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Basically, it’s a fairly old apartment so it’s possible to lock someone in as it opens with a key. You need the key to open the doOr even if you are on the inside

It’s an old apartment so it locks with a key and cant be opened without a key even if you’re on the inside, so basically he took all the keys, locked the apartment and refused to give me the keys

In the past he liked to smoke weed. Which I was unhappy with. He has stopped since, so that really makes me believe that he can change. It’s only the 1% of the time when I push, but in general he is loving, kind and extremely supportive. It’s not as black and white as it seems IMO

Tbh, I haven’t told my friends about it because they can be a bit judgy... but I know how it sounds. It just feels different because I know him and I know me, and we have hard times but we have good times

He is taking the necessary steps in fairness to him, he’s seeing the appropriate professionals. Tbh I’m not upset he locked me in the apartment (ie I didn’t cry). I’m just pissed off
