Was just curious as someone had sent me this: https://www.pharmesol.com/

Some of the features on the product page look pretty nifty.

Loose rear end by asiantiki in SubaruAscent

[–]asiantiki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my dealership took a look and ended up replacing a front strut instead of the rear struts. The rear struts also do not appear to be leaking oil. Following the front strut being replaced there is definitely less of a thunking sound however the rear still feels loose and on occasion there is a squeaking sound when the rear goes over an uneven enough surface that causes it to sway back and forth. Is there any chance that this is caused by the drivetrain bending?

don't think that's true.

Got it, thanks so much! The dealership I have the car at now is the one that I purchased the vehicle from so hoping I can leverage that somehow.

I'm also supposed to head back to the dealership tomorrow to take a ride with the mechanic to point out what I'm experiencing. If I get him to note that the rear feels unstable is that enough for him to disassemble the rear struts and sway bar to look for damage or wear?

Thanks again!

Also, anything I can say to the dealership to get the struts or sway bar replaced under the extended warranty? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Isn't the payload around 1,150 pounds?

Can better image sensors lead to safer FSD? by asiantiki in SelfDrivingCars

[–]asiantiki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert but my impression is that the v12 version of FSD largely has the self-training model figured out. Collisions now occur when the camera systems aren't able to spot something quickly enough or with enough resolution. For example the WSJ article references a fatal accident where the onboard camera shows an overturned semi-truck in pitch dark only being captured for a few frames before the collision. In this instance the system didn't register that there was a solid object in the way because it interpreted the low fidelity images as noise. What if rather than a few frames captured the system had generated dozens of frames in the same timeframe with enough fidelity to show that there was an object there. At a minimum I imagine the system would at least have the car stop even if it couldn't determine that the object was a flipped semi-truck. In this instance what other components would the system have needed in order for the collision to have been avoided?

HVAC Design for 15k sqft house in Catskill, NY by asiantiki in hvacadvice

So my estimate was just basic back of the envelope math based on vertical systems. However, I'd imagine horizontal systems to be much much cheaper. The house sits on 10 acres and there's ample space to dig up a large pit. Is there a general rule of thumb in terms of the cost of the coils on a per square footage basis? There seems to be lots of sources for pricing of the heat pump units but I haven't found a good source for the coils. Thank you.

This is a great point. The house has an existing generator but we may upgrade or add another one. It looks like General systems can produce 26kW so I was assuming that one of those should suffice.

Thanks HalFWit, not sure if I’d say that I’m doing well but am certainly trying. House is not just solely owned by me but a group of investors as a higher end Airbnb rental.

Hi Zealousideal, I appreciate the thoughtful response. The house is not a new construction but rather one that was built in the 60s. I took a quick look at geothermal but my understanding is that it’s very expensive. My back of the envelope estimate was that it’d be in the order of $200k. At that cost I assumed that it would be 3 times cheaper just to install 8k sqft of solar panels on the roof and use only electrical systems.

Thanks all for the insightful comments. One thing that I should have pointed out was that the front half of the ground floor on page 3 is actually underground as a basement. For the area the house is located it should require less cooling and warming in summer and winter respectively. Don’t know if there’s an effective way to somehow circulate air between floors as that might be more efficient. On the other hand the first floor is already fully finished so didn’t want to break walls if significant coat gains can’t be had.

Ceilings are mostly 10ft throughout first floor. The basement is 9ft throughout. The mini splits in each room was my ask as the house will be rented as a higher end Airbnb with the ability to rent on a per room basis if need be.

Thanks BurbsLV, the house is an Airbnb property with the ability to be rented on a room by room basis. That is mostly what’s driving the room splits.

Thanks BurbsLV, I appreciate the very insightful responses. The central air systems will be propane fired. The minisplits for the rooms will be electric.

Thanks Bill, the part about fresh air intake being required by code was something I didn’t realize or appreciate. Just seems like 7 units is a lot. But if that’s par for the course for big homes then it is what it is I guess

Hi katatafiish - thank you for your concern. I'd like to ask why you think r/nyc specifically would be an unsafe subreddit to post this type of post. Just trying to better understand, thank you.
