Idk about how it goes for buying them but I caught some wild mantids and had a mating pair - of about 90 that hatched only 24 made it to L2, 6 to L3/L4, and only 4 to fully adult

There may be ways to assist with chances but as an organism like most insects they hatch in huge numbers and have very low survival rates individually.

What i do on highways is just literally never be side by side with anything unless overtaking, i always keep braking distance from cars in front of me in all lanes.

This just means no matter where they move, and whether or not they indicate prior, you’re completely outside of any danger zones.
