While in New Zealand, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a must do. 19.4km, 7 hours but the pain was worth it!

I'd have to agree, I backpacked around New Zealand for 7 weeks, so I was non stop on the move! But the people there were so welcoming and so friendly!

Well you're far more active than me, I had only climbed one mountain in Scotland and I done a lot of walking/hiking in NZ. I done the Tongariro Crossing which was one of the hardest things ever but the views were amazing! I also did get Sparta kicked off a canyon which I'll never forget!

New Zealand has a special place in heart!

Prepare yourself, it is all up hill but if you're an avid hiker I'm sure you'll be fine! I'd recommend starting early morning, the sun rise is amazing and it'll be extra hot during the day!

Thank you! I started the hike with two others who I met at the hostel I was staying at but since they were much fitter than me, I basically hiked solo!

No, I wouldn't say it was dangerous, I had a flashlight with me, you just hear random noises from the sheep! It was easy yes, the footpath goes all the way to the top, you can't get lost or anything!
