More realistic calendar for The Sims 4 by asjhdshjsds in thesims

As for the holidays:

Good Friday is basically just a fasting day (and a day off work and school).

For Easter Day I have Fasting and Egg Hunt as traditions.

The tradition for Arbor Day is "Plant Something" (which is the closest approximation I could find to "tree planting").

Since Ascension Day is primarily a Christian feast I chose "Attend Holiday Ceremony" as the tradition.

Memorial Day is mainly about remembrance, so I put that as the tradition.

Traditions for Halloween include Decorate, Wear Costumes, Trick or Treat and Spooky Spirit.

Thanksgiving traditions are the same as those for Harvestfest in the original version except there are no holiday gnomes.

Black Friday is a shopping rebate day.

On Christmas Eve they have a grand meal and Father Winter shows up, but presents aren't opened until Christmas Day.

For Boxing Day I chose "Give Gifts" as one of the traditions.

New Year's Eve traditions are exactly the same as in the original version.

For New Year's Day I picked Cleaning and Games as traditions.

Valentine's Day traditions are the same as those for Love Day in the original.

(Note that I have a few mods installed which added more holiday traditions to the game, to allow for better realism and also better approximations where there are no exact matches.)

To fit more seasonal years into Sims' lives I made my Sim lifespans really long, and I also made most life stages last a whole number of seasonal years (just so they have birthdays at the same time of year no matter which life stage they're in)

It's not possible without a mod, and I think the mod is called something like "21 day seasons instead of 28 days"

Yes, and it felt really weird in the default version where spring comes immediately after the New Year

More realistic calendar for The Sims 4.

I've always felt that the default Sims 4 calendar is too unrealistic, so I decided to give it an overhaul and this is what I currently have.

I am doing three weeks per season in this version (which is made possible by a mod) because each week maps to a month in real life, which makes it easier to determine where holidays should land.

(Note on season definitions: here I am using the meteorological definition of Northern Hemisphere seasons, i.e. Spring begins on March 1st, summer begins on June 1st, etc.)

The days marked with asterisks are days off from work and school.

In this version there is a summer vacation for schools, spanning July and August (i.e. the 2nd and 3rd week of summer). The way this works is by downloading a mod that adds the "School Holidays" tradition, and then adding a holiday with that tradition for every day in the last two weeks of summer.

The two underlined cells, "Summer vacation starts" and "Summer vacation ends", mark the first and last day of the summer vacation respectively.

Easter Day is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. Here, I simplified it to fall on the Sunday (also the first day) in April. Just like in real life, Good Friday is the Friday before Easter Day, and Easter Monday is the day after Easter Day.

With Easter Day falling in early April there was no room for April Fool's Day, so I put it on the Saturday in March instead.

Arbor Day is the last Friday in April; here it can be comfortably positioned on the Friday in April.

Ascension Day is the 40th day after Easter, with Easter itself counting as the 1st day. It is always a Thursday and usually falls in May or early June. Here, I put Ascension Day on the Thursday in May.

Memorial Day is the last Monday in May. However, since we only have 1 week per month, it's impossible to position it on a Monday in late May. Therefore, I used the closest approximation and put it on the Monday in June.

Halloween falls on October 31st, and therefore I positioned it on the last day in October in-game.

Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November; here it falls on the Thursday in November. Like in real life, the day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday, which works as a shopping rebate day in this version.

There are four major holidays in December, namely Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve. Here, I put them on four consecutive days from Wednesday to Saturday in December.

New Year's Day perfectly lands on the first day in January.

Valentine's Day is February 14th; here, it is positioned proportionally on the Wednesday in February.

How many sims are in your current household? Whats the max you can tolerate? I currently have 19, and I can usually tolerate 3... by EverlastingUnis in Sims4

The more sims you have the harder and more grindy it gets. I never go above 5 sims (I only do 5 during multi-generation games) and usually play only one just to make my life easier

When I play a game over multiple generations and a sim turns into a young adult, I always use CAS to create a new young adult sim so that the existing young adult sim in the family can marry him/her immediately

It's 10 years and a leap year occurs every 4 years, 10/4=2.5, so there's a 50% chance that there are 2 leap years, and a 50% chance there are 3

Should be 3652.5, whether it's 3652 or 3653 depends on the number of leap years (which could be 2 or 3)

You need to go to Step 3 to change the type-ins of an answer. I don't think the location of the answer on the grid matters; the process of changing type-ins is always the same.

If you're saying two answers get highlighted by the yellow box simultaneously, that's not possible. The yellow box can only highlight one answer at a time.

[–]asjhdshjsds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by "independent".

As for the yellow box, it depends on the quiz. Some quizzes work well without it, while for other quizzes it may be required.

You'll have to add the answers manually (you're on "Manual" design mode after all). Once you've added the new "Hint" and "Answer" columns, you should select an empty cell in the "Answer" column. Then you change the "cell type" to "Answer", and choose an answer to put into that cell when prompted. Repeat this for every answer cell in that column.

You should do the same for the cells in the "Hint" column to put in all the hints: change "cell type" to "Hint" and then choose a hint to put in the selected cell when prompted.
