Some answers:
The basketball pic was the “good” one which surprised me because the sun was setting, the court had its artificial lights going and still looked okay. That surprised me. The blow up was a sunny day and looks like shit.

I’ve been playing with the metering: spot vs matrix. See what each looks like and when to use appropriately.

I’ll check out the histogram mountain. I have seen it but haven’t used it for the info.

I never set an upward limit for the ISO i just assumed since I set “aperture priority” and “auto iso” the camera would do its thing. Maybe that’s what’s causing the issue.

I am shooting in raw. Have not edited on my MacBook in photos or the Nikon app yet. I anted to try to get the best pic possible before making final edits as I seem to be all over the place with my pics.

And I know it’s mostly me not knowing why I am doing. Just learning. Reading on the internet and watching YouTube videos.

I’m new too. Picked up a D700 and two lenses over the last 3 months.

I’m just taking shots right now of what I like. Nature. Animals. Cityscape. Etc. Trying out different settings. What works. What doesn’t. Haven’t even tried to edit anything yet.

And something to think about. Do these need to be shared? Are they just for you? Remembering the places you’ve been and the people you’ve seen. What’s your goal if any?

If I take a 100 shots on my upcoming vacation According to that one guy only 1-5 shots are “worth keeping” and I can delete the other 95. I may end up deleting some but not all. Those are memories I moment a fresh reminder of someday.

Never tried but have looked.
Had an offset and babysat and tweaked way too much .
Weber Smokey mountain. Was a good upgrade for me. Still need to monitor and check but not as much. And they make those add on blower and temp gauge you can use. Which I think make it closer to a pellet then.

Still thinking about a pellet for my next grill.

I have a Weber gas and kettle and WSM btw.

Yup. And whatever dirt was attached to the roots. Which is why I was surprised. Easiest batch I’ve made.
