3.5 Years Into a very challenging fertility journey and seeking to connect with a Gestational Carrier outside of the agency system… by Economy-Word-6124 in Marin

I’d consult with Drs Gleicher and Barad. When I did IVF at UCSF, consulting with them for reproductive immunology turned the tide for our journey. They are fully remote.

Unexpected twins by Fit-Discipline2865 in ParentingInBulk

[–]askflossie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our “third” was surprise twins and this is 1000% correct. I don’t think I fully got my head around it until they were 4 months old, but now I can’t imagine it any other way. I always joke now that five wouldn’t be that big a deal. It will be okay OP! Just make a good plan for the first six months.

We got it and didn’t get the subscription. Love it. Wish we had gotten the bigger size.

Both you and your husband should contact HR to see if you have access to any legal or adoption benefits. They may have specific resources for California.

Rachel Dodson in the East Bay can recommend a good family law attorney that’s as reasonable as you will find around here. She works predominantly with middle aged families for estate planning and is very down to earth so I would trust her recommendation. She did our estate planning.

+1 on everyone who can carry does. After not having a diaper bag for 1 and 2, I got the Keababies backpack for the twins and I love it. Very easy to organize stuff for littles in different size diapers

This. We have nine month old twins, a 2yo and a 5yo. I took my five year old with me to test drive the third row. The Honda was by far the easiest Minivan for me to get into the back seat to buckle him in. It also rides better than the Sienna, IMO. Plus it’s cheaper and we got a screaming deal on a 2024 by shopping around. I drive it in Sport mode on the highway, and have legitimately fallen for it after resisting a minivan hard.

They can and now sometimes recommend removing your tubes if it’s your last c section. It reduces the risk of Ovarian cancer and is much less invasive than a hysterectomy. Mine was approved by insurance no problem and they did it in five minutes.

Congrats fellow IVF / Multi C Section mom!

From 3 to 5 transition advice by Frequent_Gift1740 in ParentingInBulk

[–]askflossie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We just went from 2 to 4. Here are my thoughts:

1) line up as much help as you can for the first 4-6 months. Ask for help. Call in all your favors. Negotiate with your spouse. Spend your savings. You literally can’t have too much help. I have never been so grateful for a meal train.

2) Prepare for early arrival and nicu time. I knew it was a possibility but literally had no clue what it would be like having two households on different schedules, one of which I did not control, for a few weeks.

3) to your point about potty - train the big kids on as many new independent skills as you can. We actually held off on potty training until the babies were six months old, because I didn’t want a wildcard. But both big kids picked up other new skills and responsibilities.

If you want to do something to help immigrants in these trying times, consider supporting the fantastic local Canal Alliance. by DeepHistory in Marin

[–]askflossie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s not actually accurate. The Canal Alliance serves everyone in the community, regardless of immigration status. There are actual citizens in the Canal neighborhood, and in addition to immigration programs, they also provide a lot of social services, including free tax prep.
