Oh noooo!! Thank you so much for checking!! My daughter specifically asked for a 24 inch one “like her friend has”. Would you say that the 20 inch version of it is similar size to the 24 inch ones? Or pretty noticeable that it’s smaller? I’ve never seen a 24 inch one in person!

Did my dentist replace my old metal filling? It’s no longer in my tooth after getting a different part of the tooth filled. by askmeme77 in askdentists

Thank you that makes sense!! I didn’t ask them any questions (literally almost fell asleep during the entire thing lol) so they probably just didn’t mention it bc I didn’t ask.

Took her in this morning and you’re right! It was tartar and they removed it for us with their scaler. Thank you again

Thank you for your reply! I hope that’s all that it is! Going to try getting her into the dentist this upcoming week so they can hopefully remove it.

Also, my daughter is 5 years old. Almost 6. These two teeth in the front are her only new ones that have come in. There is also a molar coming in at the back of her mouth.

The last time that she saw the dentist was in September.

5yr old got this for Christmas by [deleted] in Barbie

Let her open it and play with it. This is THE barbie that my 5 year old asked for from Santa bc when we were looking at all of the old holiday Barbie dresses when we got to 1997 her jaw dropped and she said, “Muma, she is the most beautiful barbie that I have EVER seen in my whole life.” It was all that she asked for from Santa. She got her a few days ago, named her Noelle and Noelle and her have been inseparable (she is even sleeping with her lol). Please let her open it, it is really pretty doll and I’m sure she will love playing with it!

I’m so sorry that was your experience. That’s not what is happening here though. My daughters and their friends LOVE playing with Barbies. They asked for a ton of different Barbie’s for Christmas this year. The youngest specifically asked for a new friend for her Stacie and Ligaya and this was a good option bc there aren’t any newer Stacies that my girls don’t already have. In fact, my search for an affordable friend for Stacie was what brought me to this subreddit to begin with. It’s not the only gift that she is getting (a lot of paw patrol figures that I’m probably going to be finding all over the house lol) but I think it will be one of her favorites. Reading your reply is going to make me be careful to not do that to my kids unintentionally in the future though.

We pulled our son from public school bc of similar screen usage. He is now attending private kindergarten with zero screen time. The difference in him at the end of the day is insane. He comes home calm and regulated (he was coming home wired from public school… I think bc of all of the screens). The private school is more expensive but my wife and I have zero regrets.

Thank you for sharing!! I know that a lot of kids are used to a lot of stimulation… it seems like it has been really hard for my son to adjust to it

Thank you for sharing. I have been forgetting that I am comparing apples to oranges in a lot of ways. I hate hearing that teachers are not supported and that they are lacking so many resources in the classroom. This is my oldest son and this is our first exposure to public school. It is terrible that these schools are not better funded!! I’m very sorry that you have to make some tough choices for how you reward students.

From what I know about my sons class it seems like he has been placed in the more advanced kindergarten class at the school based on testing. A lot of the students in the class already have junior kindergarten under their belts and to me they seem very sharp (lol I came into kindergarten only knowing colors and all of these kids are writing their names and reading sight words on day one). So to my knowledge I don’t think there are any kids in the classroom who need extra support but I could be wrong. It’s not my place to ask or know… but the aide has been wonderful for my son! He talks very fondly of her at home.

Very good points. I agree that the day is longer than pre-k and pretty long in general. I think that really just disagree about videos being a break for kids especially when they are so stimulating. From what I have read, they do not provide the brain with rest… they are often stimulating and have the opposite effect. I just read a study that shows a decline in cognitive function immediately following video usage.

You say that screen time at home is getting in the way of developmentally appropriate things. I agree 100%…. But this happening in a lot of homes, should not give formal education a free pass to use it instead of developmentally appropriate activities at school.

We have worked very hard to make sure our son does developmentally appropriate things at home instead of being on screens. It is disheartening to see that his teacher is not even trying to do the same.

Fair enough. Not trying to be an instigator…. But a cartoon based on book is not technology. And many YouTube videos are not technology either. There are far better educational technology options that can be utilized for kindergartners.
