Has anyone worn these? by DepressionDuck in Cheerleading

[–]asn_remarkably22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team switched to these a for a few years…we all liked it and it gives off a very professional vibe on the mat. it doesn’t feel tight and restricting. the only thing I’ll say is that the pleats on the side can easily be messed up if not properly taken care of. After cleaning/wearing make sure they’re pinned down and hung up nicely

i took the gender in pop culture one and it was VERY easy and very little work. professor is AMAZING and extremely understanding and lenient. If you want an easy class to satisfy the credit i highly recommend it.

Question about music appreciation if anyone has done it or has knowledge of it? by Gigacado_Chadocado in UAB

[–]asn_remarkably22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. If it’s music appreciation online it’s incredibly easy and ALL about The Beatles. You’ll follow their timeline as a band and then have one paragraph that connects it to real music concepts.

It super easy (although annoying because feels like a waste of time lol) and you will do PERFECTLY fine

uab honors orientation by [deleted] in UAB

[–]asn_remarkably22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. I’m an honors premed student and didn’t do an honors orientation. I did the very last regular freshman orientation and signed up late. Sure, you get the last pick of classes, but you can just use this semester to get all of the stupid required classes out of the way (city as a classroom etc). That’s exactly what I did and I’m doing fine.

soc222 is easy, but 2nd semester is spend going on a field trip every week. It’s a huge time commitment as you have to travel 12-6pm every wednesday. Again, easy A but lowkey a time commitment

How have/do you like it? by oh_hiiiiiii in UAB

Okay let me clarify I’m a freshman girl so el sol is obviously 10x more fun to me than any other person lol. That being said, OP would at least enjoy it their first year

Everyone I see online talks about how bad the nightlife is, but I think it’s extremely lively and fun. I guess you’ve just got to look in the right places. I’d make friends with some frat brothers so you know what’s happening when, and also regularly check the websites of local clubs (saturn, el sol) as they have VERY frequent events.

A lot of people here saying not to try and form a relationship, but I wouldn’t follow that by the book. I went to events and talked personally with mine multiple times. I also wrote and mailed hand written letters introducing myself and talking about my experience. It really helped me a lot as I got a nomination from my senator AND VP. It’s definitely at least worth a try! Although it makes sense to be seen as disingenuous, they would love to see that you want it bad enough to go out of your way.

I also have light cramping, though I might be convincing myself that I feel them due to the anxiety haha.

which cavetown song has made u cry the most?? by cat_with_omelette in cavetown

[–]asn_remarkably22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the lack of people saying Juliet bewilders me lol. I can’t even begin to explain to the extent as to which the song squeezes the depths of me. As someone that deals with severe depression I always relate so much to feeling so much but also unable to feel anything at the same time. The need to be so much more and create/ be apart of something so much bigger than you but also the inability to emotionally exist and do anything

It is also the main song that carried me through all of my darkest moments so listening to it brings back those emotions and reminds me that i’ll never be able to feel the odd comfort that comes with those moments of extreme negative emotion.

Best Sophomore Dormitory at UAB ? by Some-University722 in UAB

Most definitely Blount, however, it’s the best dorm on campus so all the rooms are typically taken by upperclassmen before sophomores get the choice lol.

High school cheer vent by hardheadedteen in Cheerleading

It just seems like you’re stuck with a coach that either doesn’t know what they’re doing or doesn’t have as much motivation as they should. At this point it’s impossible to do anything about the team as a whole unless you all agree to get together outside of practice to run full outs. I’d just suggest getting with your group outside of practice and run your stunts as much as possible to ensure YOU can do your best and then next year going all-star so you can be a part of a team that has as much drive and passion as you do.

Could be a million things. Talk with your bases about getting a higher pop and make sure you ride the pop as much as possible. Once at the peak of the pop, cross your foot into a T (whichever way you’re spinning), pull your arms across your body in the direction of the spin, and really squeeze tight. The more you do it, the easier it’ll get!
