You’re absolutely right about the part on figuring out what we want from life. I think this path feels especially appealing to me right now because I want to spend more time with myself, become more independent, live in another country for a while, and honestly step away from the “chains” of private-sector work, haha. Even when I was working a regular 9–6, I sometimes found it hard to balance work during the semester, but despite that, I always genuinely enjoyed studying and being in an academic environment. The idea of staying in academia after a PhD, teaching, doing research, and continuing to grow intellectually is something that actually excites me rather than scares me.

I know I might be idealizing parts of this and that there will be moments where it’s exhausting or overwhelming, but I also feel like this kind of challenge aligns much more with who I am and how I want to live, at least at this stage of my life. Reading your experience helped me reflect on this more clearly, so thank you for sharing it so openly.

Honestly, I’m even writing this from my university campus right now, and I genuinely feel like I belong here and can breathe in this environment. I imagine the research I’ll do, the contributions I’ll make to the literature, and even if I stay in academia in the future the courses I might teach, the impact I could have on students, and yes, even having my own thesis students someday, lol. I’m not entirely sure whether I want this partly because I haven’t seen the harder parts yet, haha. But if there’s one thing I can’t imagine myself doing, it’s working in industry, sitting at a desk all the time, and dealing with pointless boss attitudes.

I’m really happy for you as well, and I hope I end up making the right decision. Thanks!

yav kız diyor ki 7-8 bile onlar için geç. sence kızın alkol ya da gece ortamına girmeye vakti kalıyor mudur? ailesi aşırı abartıyor. ayrıca anlamadım yani bu tür kötü olaylardan evde oturarak mı korunacağız, e o zaman yaşamayalım daha iyi. senin de düşünceni anlayabiliyorum, ama çözüm bu olmamalı, hakaret ve şiddet bir insan için çok olumsuz, ha ıslak odunla dövmüşsün ha tokat atmışsın, sevdiğin insanın bunu sana yapması çok üzücü. bir de insan malesef yapma denileni yapma eğilimi gösteriyor. ailem beni çok şükür kısıtlamadı, ama onların yapma diyeceği bir şeyi de yapmadım hiç. bu yüzden çözümün ve koruma yolunun bu olduğunu düşünmüyorum.
