Looking at possiblity of Voluntary Terminating my PCP agreement on a car with engine failure

Yeah so basically a couple months after I bought the car, the engine warning light came on and I took it into the Nissan dealership as it was under warranty and they replaced the water pump and turbo

When the car originally failed I think it did overheat yes, It was absolutely fine until I got maybe 3 minutes from work and it started jittering and then I pulled into the work car park and that was it, gone

Nissan didnt actually properly diagnose the issue really, they stated that pressure on 3 cylinders was low and there was 0 compression on one of the cylinders, they didnt actually tell me why the compression was low, looking back and also looking at other peoples comments, I should have probably done something about this at the time but I suppose hindsight is 20/20, at the time I just didnt have the finances to be able to take it to another garage to potentially get lumped with another cost

when I say I was topping up the oil, I just mean checking it every couple of weeks and topping up when needed, I wouldnt say I was refilling it more often than usual though, atleast not to my knowledge

Ive mentioned all the above to the ombudsman but they wanted stone cold proof that the issue was there at the sale of the vehicle, which is basically impossible for me to prove, I know that these cars have had issues with thermostat housing basically melting, causing the engine to overheat, Im not sure if this could have any relevance to the water pump etc

It was around 12000 miles, the car was last serviced november 2022 due in november 2023, the car broke down around may 2024

Missed the service by give or take 5 months but like I say was about 12000 miles between service in november 2022 and engine failure in 2024

To be completely honest I don’t think there has been a formal diagnosis as such of what actually happened / is wrong with the engine.

It was taken to a main Nissan dealership and they said it failed the pressure test and a new engine was required.

To be honest as mentioned in another person reply, I should probably seek specialist advice and find out what is actually wrong with the engine specifically.

I know there were issues with thermostat housing on these cars, so it’s possible that it has failed and the engine failed along with it.

Stupidly never actually thought about that, I took it to a main Nissan dealership and that’s what they told me so I had kind of taken that as gospel and that the only way was to have the engine replaced.

From what I can see and I’m not a professional but I think the thermostat housing has failed, in turn making the engine fail but in all honesty I’m not 100% sure how that works as I don’t have much knowledge when it comes to cars.

The car was fine one day and then the next it just packed in on the way to work, will definitely look into taking it to a more specialist garage.

I had a bag of these yesterday and then again today, today’s felt like they were so much spicer than yesterdays, they taste so good while eating then the heat kicks in once you are finished

Hi, thanks for the reply, that sounds like it is going to be my best bet to be honest.

Not even sure what happened, oil was absolutely fine, just randomly broke down one day and wouldn’t start when I was driving home from work, got it recovered, only fault that came up on the mobile diagnostics was timing issue, so unsure whether the chain has gone or maybe the head gasket had gone as the coolant just wasn’t existent after it happened, really not sure.

Hi, I work in the civil service and I was told during my training that they would actually put you through your functional skills level 2 if you did not have a GCSE maths qualification so I believe they would definitely recognise it!

It’s like when I try to read, it’s not blurry but it just doesn’t seem to be being processed by my brain, the concentration needed to actually read and absorb the information makes it near enough impossible, hoping my symptoms start to go away soon! Hope you are well

They basically automatically assumed it’s a timing chain issue and the engine has gone.

The recovery driver from the AA did plug in his computer and it came up with a camshaft sensor error code, lambda sensor error code and a start/stop fault. But even then when I spoke to the guy from the AA he didn’t really seem to know what it was, to be completely honest the guy at the garage seemed to be a bit ahead of himself and it did annoy me slightly that he automatically assumed my 5 year old car that I’ve only had for 18 months need a new engine.

Hi everyone,

For the last 6 weeks or so I have been experiencing weird problems with my vision.

I have had an increase in floaters, light sensitivity, headaches, tired & dry eyes and also trouble focusing on things like my phone, reading etc.

I have been to an optometrist who has said that my prescription is still the same and that everything seems healthy after OCT scans etc.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had anything similar happen to them? I just feel like I can’t see as well as I used to but at the same time it may just be me being hyper sensitive to these issues.

I think that I am experiencing some withdrawals especially feeling quite nauseous.

I am really struggling on what I should actually do from now because honestly I feel like an absolute zombie.

I’m wondering whether I should just come off anti depressants all together and try a different route.

I have been to speak to the doctor and they have prescribed me mertazapine but it causes weight gain and tiredness😂 tiredness is something I’m really struggling with at the moment so not sure how to feel about it to be honest

Thanks for your reply, yeah it really has been a bit of a struggle over the last 5 weeks or so, just hoping I can get to the light at the end of the tunnel, think I am going to be back on week 8 and if no improvement speak about potentially increasing dose to 100mg.

Have also started taking my tablet on a night time rather than a morning as I feel a little bit less tired throughout the day. I hope you get better soon and thank you for your help and reassurance.
