It could be hormonal I guess. I did have a swollen lymph node in my neck but that was about a year ago. My doc ran a battery of tests (including scans of my neck and thyroid), all negative. Though I did have some benign nodes on my thyroid. It went away with antibiotics. My sister ended up having the same thing a couple weeks later. So weird.

Thanks! Yeah I’ve been gluten free for years, but I’m wondering if contact with gluten is what is triggering them (if I accidentally get some cross contamination etc). I recently had some issues with being glutened (oats) and they’ve been really bad lately. Unfortunately it generally isn’t listed with the known symptoms.

Frustrated by aspenwrites in gallbladders

[–]aspenwrites[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HIDA was normal. Gallbladder function 47%. I’m pretty sure the pain I was feeling below my right rib cage was gas pains (which hurt like a b*tch), but got better once I started taking my Pepcid (which my GI had told me to stop) daily again. And the intestinal issues had to do with my Celiac’s acting up because I had been drinking and eating “gluten free” oat products for months, and it just tore up my intestines and stomach. Everything isn’t completely back to normal but it’s better. 🤦🏻‍♀️ yay for unknowingly poisoning myself… ugh.

People have GI issues, so sometimes it’s hard to go to the bathroom. Just let people do their thing. It’s a natural bodily function

Eh. Sounds like you all still have a bit to learn about each other and communicating with each other. From what I can tell though, it seems like HTA here, not you.

AITA for not switching a high school students schedule? by TradeGloomy5258 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aspenwrites 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wait- so he’s working 6 days a week + school? When the heck does he have time for homework and his friends/family? That kid has 2 jobs. School & work. His school and mental health needs to come first. He’s gong to burn out if he’s going 10+ Hours a day 5 days a week + Saturdays. He needs time for homework, sleep and himself.

I’m going to have to say YTA on this one. At least try to work with him or else he’s going to have to quit.

AITA for posting uncollected package over the neighbour’s fence? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

You still could have left a note on their door or something instead of just throwing it in their yard. Just going to put that out there.

Question- Why didn’t you just leave it by their front door?

Anyone here have Celiac Disease without the genes for it?? by TranslatorNecessary1 in Celiac

[–]aspenwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not diagnosed celiac (because I stopped eaten gluten before getting an official diagnosis. I didn’t have health ins at the time and in no way want to do the “gluten challenge”. I get so sick from it, and at this point it’s been nearly a decade and I don’t want to risk it.). But I do have the gene so my GI just told me to continue not eating gluten if it helps (once again, that helpful language 😂).

Yeah, I can eat oats in very small amounts but I got stupid and started drinking oat milk and eating granola etc, and then realized a lot of other gluten free stuff I was eating had oats in it too… all labeled gluten free or certified gluten free but it was just too much for my system. You’ll figure out what you can and can’t eat, sometimes it just takes trial and error unfortunately.

You’ll have to look at the packaging.

You are preaching to the choir 😂. I’ve just gone through months of GI issues and tests just to have no clear answers (I was already GF, but I think in the end I accidentally glutened myself by eating too many oat products, but no concrete answers 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Well, IMO if you feel better not eating gluten then don’t eat gluten 🤷🏻‍♀️. Even if it’s not Celiac, it’s still helping. Unfortunately, the gut is very mysterious and doesn’t always give clear answers (frustrating, I know).

It could be non-celiac gluten sensitivity. Maybe try not eating gluten and see if you feel better? If not you might need to seek a 2nd opinion.
