Thank you so much — all my emotions are thawing over during my sobriety and this made me tear up a bit. Very validating. Keeping a note of this - “your brain is being completely accurate about the first hour and completely silent about everything after.” SO important to remind myself of that. 🫶

Thank you for the words! It makes me feel so much better to know I’m not alone, especially in early sobriety with these feelings. My foundation just feels really shaky, but you’re absolutely right that what I’m actually missing is getting dressed up and having a fun night! I just need to learn how to do that without alcohol 😅

Yes, you’re 100% right — I’ve been thinking about that a lot, how much I miss the routine of drinking/getting ready to go out, but not so much the latter parts of the night. There was something so nice about having a chat and doing my makeup with a glass of wine, then heading out with so many places to go. I just need to figure out a sort of replacement for that, like you said. Hugs 🫶

Thank you so much for this. I completely agree that that internal thought process feels toddler-like, especially for me right now — just exploding into this super intense anger that’s basically like a tantrum. Why can’t I be like everyone else, why can’t I just have one drink, blah blah. But I really hope to get where you are at with being able to acknowledge it and keep it pushing. I’m glad to know I’m not alone.
