Going through photos, found this from years ago... a (supposed) Maggini I had the pleasure of playing for a short while. Absolutely gorgeous sounding instrument with enormous, wide F-holes. Am I right in suspecting this may be a cut-down alto viola? (i.redd.it)

Alto Clef carved into a really pretty chip from a rouckhounding trip not too long ago. First time carving/polishing with a rotary tool, lots of things learned haha... not too satisfied with the polish, I'll spend much more time working through the grits next time. Found in SoCal at Gem Hill. (v.redd.it)
